lol what if someone isnt chinese and doesnt have a wok or soy sauce? step one variation: use a saute pan or a uhhhh... i dont even know what the name of that pan is.... uhh... its big, has one loop handle on one side, and a stick handle on the other, similar to a skillet... step five variation: if vietnamese use fish sauce, if foreign, use maggi. everyone has maggi. maggi owns. maggi is like a must in any family home. maggi can be purchased at any asian grocery store. get maggi.
that is like the hard way an easier way would be having like rice, eggs, and like chinese sausages then add some like ground pepper, and oh the most important thing SOY SAUCE
omg...the maggi thing...soooo true...must have no matter what. my mom is half viet, so i grew up eating fried rice with both maggi and fish sauce. best of both worlds! lucky brand fish sauce would be my choice. it's cheap and sooo good. tried the more pricey stuff and not a fan of it...
lol i grew up eating rice with maggi and butter. holy shit it taste good. a little bit of westerness goes a long way. in fact, when we eat steak with rice at home, three condiments must appear on the table. Dijon mustard (and the real kind from Dijon city in France, which, we have cases of from our trip to France), Maggi and Butter on rice. Dijon + Maggi + Butter + steak meal = owns. EDIT: OH! HOW COULD I FORGET? OLIVE OIL ON THE GRILL VEGGIES! Dijon for steak + Maggi & Butter on rice + Extra Virgin Olive Oil on grilled veggies = triple ownage.
That's a lot of ingredients, I usually use: eggs, rice and all the junk in my fridge. My mom told me to use old rice (kak yee faang) to make fried rice, so it doesn't get sticky to the wok.-sorc Using old rice to make fried rice, is almost imposible to fail -lol
mmmmmm...steak and rice...sooooooo good. when my family eats that, my sis and i mix steak sauce with hot sauce (sriracha brand, but of course) together.
lol use to have the maggi like for everything since i was a kid, but we switched to the more "chinese" kind "Kimlan" since that's like restaurant style soy sauce...but yea repping the viet side with maggi haha....maggi+chinese sausage (lap cheung)+white rice= a meal for anytime of the day....-chef and sriracha, put that in everything, like only hot sauce used in my house lol.... anyways how i like the fried rice: shrimp, peas, carrots, eggs....or bits of chinese sausage, bbq pork, peas, carrots, eggs (usually how it's done if homemade)...
omg nas, lap cheung is BANG-ING. that is a meal for anytime. one of my fav fried rice: salty fish with chicken rice. mmmmmmmmmm....
I've also heard its better to actually use left over rice (rice from the night before), as rice that has just been cooked is too sticky for fried rice. Thats what every restaurant does as far as i know.
