I think these are one of those things that should be taught to everyone, would save many lives.

I would reccomend you guys practice the self-Heimlich Maneuver on the back of a chair or table like in this vid till you can feel it working, so if you choke and your home alone youll know what to do and you can deal with the situation without panicking

  3. chew your food and dont eat things you are allergic too and you should be all set

Thank you for posting the informative video. First comment is great and spot on. Second comment, if followed, is dangerous and can cause self injury.

Choking however, is a preventable cause of death, especially in children. Parents should ensure that food is served in non choke sized pieces for very small children and that toys have no small pieces; older kids should realized that the most common items choked on are round (almost wine bottle cork like in shape) cylindrical food items like grapes (exactly like the one used in the video), or bites of hot dogs. Such items should be chewed well before attempting to swallow so that even if it does 'go down the wrong tube' it would fall apart and not block an airway. Adults should be mindful not to talk whilst one is eating.

Or, as the old adage goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
