Many would think that after starring in the immensely popular drama, Nirvana in Fire <琅琊榜>, Hu Ge (胡歌) would strike while the iron is hot and actively seek new roles. However, the mainland Chinese actor recently revealed that he actually plans to take a break for a period of time in the hopes that viewers will forget about him. “I’ve been constantly filming for the past two years,” Hu Ge explained when first announcing his planned leave of absence from the industry. “I hope I can have some time to settle down a bit.” This past year alone, Hu Ge starred in three TV dramas, namely Nirvana in Fire, The Disguiser <偽裝者>, and Good Time <大好時光>. In addition, he has two other dramas slated for release next year, so a period of rest appears to be in order. Hu Ge also revealed that apart from resting, he also hopes to study new things, including learning English. When asked if he is planning to extend his acting career overseas, however, Hu Ge merely laughed and replied, “My ambition is not that strong. But if there’s a chance, I hope I have some reserves stored up.” Reporters also probed Hu Ge about his love life, about which he has been quiet ever since breaking up with actress Maggie Jiang (江疏影) last year. The quick-witted Hu Ge responded that if Heaven is looking out for him, then he hopes to meet his other half during his leave of absence. Creds: Sohu
