Three weeks after his leg fracture on the film set of The Bride With White Hair 3D <白髮魔女傳之明月天國3D>, Huang Xiaoming (黄晓明) has been left in a wheelchair. At the Hong Kong premiere of The Last Tycoon <大上海> which stars Chow Yun Fat (周潤發) and Huang Xiaoming, the handsome 35-year-old mainland star paid tribute to the Once a Thief <縱橫四海> scene where the wheelchair-bound Fat Gor danced with Cherie Chung (鍾楚紅). Fat Gor joked that he has already attended three movie premieres of The Last Tycoon and the next one in Beijing should be attended by Huang Xiaoming in his wheelchair. Fat Gor added, “Without him at the promotions, something is lacking.” Xiaoming also expressed his own impatience towards his current lack of mobility, which prevented him from joining the cast promotions. The Last Tycoon is set in 1930s Shanghai, chronicling the power struggle between influential local figures. Wong Jing’s (王晶) new film will feature many gun fights and explosion scenes, not unlike Fat Gor’s earlier movies. Another box office draw is uniting Fat Gor with Huang Xiaoming, who both played the character, Hui Man Keung, from The Bund <上海灘>. Bones Broken Into Many Small Pieces Commonly known as “China’s Number One Heartthrob”, Huang Xiaoming suffered a comminuted fracture in two toes on his left foot when he fell 3 meters (or nearly 10 feet) during a fighting scene in the air. A sudden gust of wind derailed the wires off the crane and Xiaoming to crash down to the ground. He was sent immediately to the Bejing Jishuitan Hospital for critical care. While recuperating, Xiaoming has been using Weibo to pass away his boredom and to connect with his fans who were anxious and concerned over his injury. One fan was worried that Xiaoming would not be able to act anymore. To that, Xiaoming replied that the steel nails (connecting the bones) would not be in his body forever. Once the nails are taken out, he will be able to walk normally again. One netizen joked that the nails have to come out or he will raise the alarm whenever he goes through customs at the airports. Xiaoming replied candidly, “I have consulted the airline companies. They told me better to ship the foot back!” One concerned fan also told him to eat more, and take the opportunity to beef up like the Hulk. Huang Xiaoming laughed that unfortunately, the Hulk’s strength comes not from food, but from his anger. Creds: Apple Daily
