Oh wow, I never knew that -ohmy
    I can understand why, really...

but that's madness to be able to control what people can/can't do on the internet! Especially when it's not illegal...

What about through a proxy, are people in China able to visit these sites through a proxy?

If they have their own, don't mean to be rude, but what's the point in banning the real FB then? -lol If their one is just doing the same thing?

It's a matter of political control. That way, everything that is said and talked about; they KNOW about. Most of the ABCs, CBCs, and other overseas Chinese really have no understanding or appreciation of how pervasive the authoritarian system in China is. They put on the facade of being as advanced and offering the same choice as the west, but if you start texting, or twitting about corruption, political payoffs, bribery, or a whole host of politically sensitive things in China, guess who's door they're going to knock on. And further, your less than correct comments will be gone from public view within 60 seconds.

Many stupid western political pundits had previously predicted about how the internet was going to liberate China, and that information would be impossible for anyone to control. LOL... Well look now, in China, the internet is owned by the Party.

And people talk about how big brother is in the US? LOL...

  16. yes if u from china and u blog crap about the government u could likely get ur door knocked down and arrested like a pedo would, they want people to use Chinese sites so they could control it.

meh, i managed fine in china for 2 and a half weeks without internet. Felt like a big accomplishment at the time, but then i realized how spoiled most of the modern world is with internet access. You don't need it to have a good time. Get out there and do stuff, its amazing how much you can get done if you don't spend ~x hours of your day glued to a screen.

Not to bash the internet though, i love technology, helps me stay in touch with people, particularly my GF... and come to think of it, if i was together with her during my trip and couldn't communicate at all... i would have been going through withdrawal.

hmm i think i just totally contradicted my whole viewpoint with that realization. I need MOAR INTERNETS. If my trip to japan this summer pans out, im so bringing a netbook and leeching off any open wifi that i can find.

    wait....u mean fearless? lol

i was "forced" to sent to another state for a better school, and to get rid of my internet addiction---couldn't get on whenever i want, & restricted local net for 4 years -.- then u realized how stupid you were, wasting time on the fake world, making those so-called friends, get real
