Ok, I was in a car accident recently and my car was totaled by my gf's sis... I was teaching her driving, and so just went initial D on me... wtf-censored-censored-censored the three of us (me, gf, gf's sis) ended up in the ER for 9hrs to get xray and stitches... but now im back and without a car in SoCal so im seen if anyone have a nice suggestion for a budget car... i guess as long as it runs good the year doesn't matter that much hopefully it is still stylish my budget is around $3000... I know its not much but thats all i have as a poor college student... well, either that or take the bus... i like imports but this budget is not really enough... expectually to fix it up... so a good driving car with decent look is ok... pm me with some suggestions... or if you have a car for sale... thanks
If I was in your positon I would take transit and see after a few years if insurance will let off a little. At this time, I don't think it's the cost of buying the car that is the issue but the cost of insurance after the accident. And for $3k, you can aim for something like Sunfire and so on.
get an acura integra, honda civic, or honda accord.. all around 95+ for that price you can get but usually salvage title espeically near the Los Angeles area if you live in South California.
your best bet would be an EG type honda civic, or a DA type integra, both will run you roughly 3000-3500 dollars maximum
$3k is a nice spot actually... late 80's early 90's BMW 3series' easily gets u over the 200k hump so don't sweat the mileage... Miata's everywhere... if ur really lucky... i mean REALLY lucky... u might be able to nail a 2nd gen MR2... its possible... but the non-turbo models can get to be around $2.5k on a lucky day...
BMW's might end up running u more cash in terms of fixing and parts.... id stay stick with japanese if you are going budget. good idea with the MR2 though, the 2nd gen non turbos are pretty sweet
Corolla!! LOL, No seriously though. Civics might rape him up the ass for insurance though. You can get corolla cheap, everywhere for $3000 ish Cheap on gas Good grocery Getter, lol and OEM parts are endless. Ok, i might be alittle wrong on some stuff, but you can't really go wrong with one.
thank you for all your suggestions... will look into cars mention insurance was libality 15/30/10 <basic my insurance is already over price... and i pay all by myself... for the past couple of years almost $1200 a year before accident... for my friend, this price pays for 3cars insurance and full coverage... i talked to my insurance and was told that only a $100 raise each year... do you know which cars have better mileage... the civic that was totaled was a 01civic and can get 40mpg on freeway and 32 local... it suck that gas and insurance is so high... and now i need a car too...
so true on the salvage in cali... but i really don't want a salvage title good idea, will try for a mr2, miata, accord or another civic true too, my friends bmw was like $2000 but repairs was like $3000
lol a risky alternative to just buying a vehicle... i wonder how long it would take to spend 3000 dollars on the quarter slots... probably a damned long time... wonder what the odds would be too...
