for a while I've really wanted more Asian friends. I just started university and unfortunately the place I went to doesn't have that many Asians at all :/ but there are some. Walking around and in the library I ocassionally see them mostly with their friends so I'm kinda scared to go approach them and try and make friends I also really want a girlfriend(I only like asian girls) I don't enjoy getting drunk and going clubbing, I'll have 1 drink and that is it. I'm not into the clubbing scene but maybe if I made a close group of friends here and went with them I might enjoy it... I just want some advise on what I should do to get to know more asian people to be friends with :/ I don't really watch that many Anime anymore, but I hear there is an anime society, perhaps I should join that? Generla advise on how to approach them would be great aswell.
You should join clubs. Most universities have a Chinese or Taiwanese club etc etc. Gen Ed classes are great to make friends in
Thing is I don't think my university has any asian clubs cause its quite small..the best I can probably hope for is the Anime society and hope most Asian people join that! I think there is an international student society but I don't know much about that.
join asian clubs. If you want to get even more chances, be one of those execs (though not the department leader since that requires that you're in the club for at least a year) that help organize or prepare for events for the club. You'll get to be in a tighter knit of people. Of course those friendships will fade off if you don't keep it up, but i guess that goes for any friendship/relationship. tbh, the closest friends you'll be with are usually the highschool friends. in university everyone is pretty much just looking out for themselves.
i have the same problem too -.- barely any asians in my major. i tried joining clubs but ended up too lazy to go XD just approach i guess, dont be afraid. when they speak chinese i wanna go join haha. any activities they hold just go
lol in the end i just dc anymore. just go and finish the degree and get on with it. most people in my major are all bookworms anyway so even if it's an "outing" it'd most likely be a library study session. which actually, is precisely what I've been doing for the past few days - -

Looool Banana asians I study Film Production and yeah I'm the only Asian on my course. In terms of Highschool friends, highschool wasn't great for me I had personal problems and got bullied a bit so don't really have any friends from highschool apart from 1 that is currently on my course now and 1 other one that now studies at a different university and doesn't seem to be interested in speaking to me much these days...So I'm counting a lot more on university. How should I approach random Asians that I see? Should I do it differently depending on whether it's a girl or boy? Also is there a good thread I can read about aproaching girls? I need some advice on that too.....my university has mostly white girls but I don't like them I only like Asian gals..
lol i rarely seen asians in multimedia classes back in high school sooo obviously you wont see many. And usually they hear film production they will say umm kayy next pls. Well if your talking to some freshman asians taking bio or engineering they probably gonna be like that hahhaa.

Join a badminton club (lotsa asians LOVE it) i went playing badminton a few times n there were hardly any other ppl than asians! 2. If u do happen to be in the same class with any asian, boy or girl, sit next to him/her n try to start a convo or something! 3. Go to asian hang outs: ktv, poolhalls, arcades n those kinda places (i used to love it there when i was younger -_-) 4. When I was younger my mother always asked me to come along when she'd meet up with her friends n that way I got to know a few other asian kids... maybe u could try that too Good luck!!
Practically everyone said it. Join clubs, go to asian places, takes some courses that lots of asians will take. LOL! Making friends aint easy if you aint the social-type person
oh, one more thing, do u have siblings who happen to have asian friends? if yes, their a great source for new friends too... I've met lotsa new ppl thru my brother cuz hes only slightly older than i am
Yellow fever boy haha no waiii ;P Thanks for the advise , the badminton thing is actually an interesting suggestion, I enjoy playing badminton aswell. Not many asian hangouts where I am, the best I can hope for is probably the library where I've seen more asian people than anywhere else here lol. The subling thing well I have an older sister but she doesn't have that many asian friends either.
