basically im an intel guy. my understanding is that amd is popular cuz you can easily overclock it. also i was told that they slow down like celerons. but not to that extreme. so are you an intel or amd guy
i was hoping more people would respond to this before i moved onto the next point... have any of yous heard of the anti-trust treaties intel broke in japan? and how they are trying to take over the world? this guy came up to me and.. yea called me stupid cuz i like intel. and went on and on about what i just mentioned above.
im not really into that many games. I just need enough performance for surfing the internet and casual applications that take up alot of resources. eg. when theres a really cool game out there.
I prefer AMD b/c they seem to be cheapest out of the two!!! And plus i like playing with the settings.. i got a Athlon XP 2400+ iapparently its suppose to be 2ghz. Iover clocked it to 2.5ghz. But i noticed maybe... once a week it would crash for no reason. then i lowered it to 2.2ghz and it would crash once in a blue moon. on the normal 2ghz setting it never crashes. i dont notice that much of a difference between 2ghz and 2.5ghz. But i guess its cause i enver play games. right now its on 2.2 my computer is adequatly cooled tho. double fan p/s and 2 case fans.
i use my computer as a space heater during those cold winter months. now that summer is just about here, im gonna have problems. last summer my comp would just reboot on its own. several times an hour. overheating
i once used the vent of my computer fan to melt cheeze. It worked. I just put a lil saram wrap over and put it text to it. my cheeze sandwhich melted. yum
i wanna try frying an egg on my CPU. vid card will do too. and also, how would i cool my hard drives. they get really hot.
i use AMD as well, also because it's cheap and actually it's because the second hand board i bought from afriend was a AMD one. i'm not too happy with AMD though since it crashes my comp. maybe it's because of incompatible hardware or maybe it's because of the board. but if you ask me again now, i rather pay more money to get a stable intel. i'm a graphics and web design student btw. so i use the computer for different uses compared with most of the peeps here. stability and speed is the top on the list of requirements for my pc.
i'm sure we got a few IT technicians floating around somewhere.....but good insight on amd and intel...
