From Switched.com Intel Shows Off Prototype iPhone Killer Posted Sep 21st 2007 5:25PM by Terrence O'Brien Filed under: Cell Phones, Computers, iPhone The big story out of this week's Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco is Intel's upcoming ultra mobile platforms codenamed Menlow and Moorestown. The technologies will be the basis for future generations of UMPCs (Ultra Mobile PCs) and MIDs (Mobile Internet Devices) -- the difference between the two product classes being that UMPCs run on Windows while MIDs use Linux. It's the MID that have caught many people's attention. The versatility, level of customization and low power requirements (which leads to longer battery life and cheaper hardware) of the Linux operating system make it a prime candidate for building an iPhone killer around. Intel showed off an iPhone-like MID with an ultra-wide screen form factor (pictured above). The touch screen device is never going to be mass produced, but was merely intended to show what would be possible with the Moorestown platform. Its not out of the question that Intel's Moorestown could power a future version of the iPhone either, but we'll have to wait till about mid-2009 to find out what manufacturers will be able to squeeze Moorsetown into. I don't really dig the design though, too long
too big to fit in pocket....is ther a harddrive? cause the lg one and the samsung (iphones) don't have a harddrive
this prob wont make it to market as its a prototype of what the hardware can do. iphone killer...perhaps..if implemented properly...
yea i think it's a bit long but that's also good in a way because when you're viewing a webpage the sentences won't be as hard to read.
any 1 else hate how when they talk on their phone and the oil from ur cheek gets on the screen.... well... that's a big screen to be cheek'n. i wonder if cheeks activate the touch screen... lol probably i cant imagine seeing that hang from someones belt, that has to be a rich tech girl phone... maybe they'll make a purse specifically designed for it
adding, not an iphone killer. two different market. however, if this thing is utilized, a whole new era of cells.
