As you guys may have known already, iOS 5 was released yesterday 6pm GMT in Europe and due to huge demand many attempts for people to download iOS 5 for their devices were scuppered. Mine was no different, stupid iTunes giving me so much false hope until the 16th minute then stupid 3259 error - when my internet connection is fine and I've got the latest iTunes installed. So, was wondering for those that have got it installed and working already - can you upload that ipsw file to a website for example Megaupload so I can just download and install using 'Restore from Backup'? Normally when a iOS software gets deleted, the former iOS version is moved to the Recycle Bin and when you try and restore it, you can pinpoint the exact location of where iOS 5 is located. I was looking to install one of the early releases, but I have waited until yesterday for the more polished version, or so Apple claims. But yea, if anyone can help to upload it, it would be greatly appreciated for me and other iPhone / iPad owners needing the update.
i went from 4.3.3 to 4.3.5 took a while then after that dl the 5 except it timed out... so a long wait then had issues trying to update the phone so i did the ipad first and that took even longer >.< what appears to work better and quicker is if u unsync all your music/photos/vids that u don't need because it doesn't back it up, and then when it tries to restore, it doesn't error out had that error out on the phone =( but u just unplug it and it continues again takes a while
i did it when it came out.. i got errors twice.. then restarted comp and it worked =) i went from 4.3.5 to 5. on ipod 4th gen
Looks like a long wait just to get this stupid iOS. I'm beginning to question whether upgrading from 4.3.5 is worth it or not. For you guys that have it, worth upgrading or not from the previous iOS?
on the ipad its feels fine on the 3gs... im not impressed, its too sluggish and slow =/ damn 4s... hurry up and be released >.<
same as Fah, we all got it the minute it came out. I preupdated my phone to 4.3.5 just because a blogger said it's required, then to 5.0 But my other iphone went straight to 5.0 from 4.3.3 so idk
Took forever to download and install, but first impressions are pretty good. Features like Syncing over Wifi - can leave my iPhone plugged downstairs and have my media syncing from my room upstairs atm. And being able to update the software directly from the 'General' tab on settings and ofc finally being able to redownload music you purchased on iTunes. Wasted so much money on my music especially, but you know, for better quality music rather than cheap 128kbps I don't mind that much.
For those still need to download and install iOS 5, link here: http://osxdaily.com/2011/10/12/ios-5-download-available/ And download according to your specific device. Should have done this the first place.
If it's slow on the 3GS.. then I guess I won't be upgrading my iPod Touch 3rd gen.. It's the same spec as the 3GS...
Guess I won't be upgrading my iPod Touch 3rd gen as well then. iOS4 already made it slower, it makes sense iOS5 won't play nice with it.
Guess a lot of people got iTouch 3gs too. Then i wont upgrade it then toop if you guys aren't. I start to get some lag though when im on Safari (with just Music on running back app).. Typing lag.
