Some of you already knew about it .. I am going back to school this Fall. This morning, I learned that all incoming med students are getting a FREE iPad to test some sort of health record application for a company. I was like WTF ... that's so WRONG. I just found out our school requires all incoming students to get an iPad since textbooks aren't available for some of the classes. I bought one before and now, I need to get another one. I am not working anymore so gotta be more conservative with my spending. First, it was a laptop and I got a new Mac and now this. Damn .. school is thinking us students are totally loaded .. WTF. Anyone know if there will be a cheaper iPad version out in September?
why do you need to get a second iPad? iPads can be used for multiple things.... i would go in depth with the fake multi-task apple claims to have, but that's beside the point lol but yea... unless i misread, why do you need to get a second iPad?
The first iPad was given to my wife. The important thing is that I'd like to have school work and home entertainment separate; just like work and personal computer separate.
if you're going back to school as you say, 99% of your school mates wont have the luxury of being able to separate work and house business on two separate devices. and by work you mean school work? i'm saying, it's easily manageable to separate work and house business on one device, while at the same time saving you the hundreds of dollars spent on a second device, as, again, you say you are trying to be more conservative in your spending.
You gotta keep in mind, most people are probably "single" so it's no problem doing everything on device. School and home stuffs are different. There's a chance that I'll share the iPad with classmates sometimes and home personal stuffs .. well, you know .. not something I'd like to share. Like college textbook, sometimes we forget to bring it or whatever .. know what I mean? Perhaps I am married and privacy is more important to me. Being conservative with my spending but there is something I can't compromise with .. right? That's why I ask about the new version. I might even get a refurbished one. Let's see.
A new 7" iPad is rumored to release around X-Mas time. But until a new version of the iPad comes out, you probably wont be able to get one cheaper then what it is now unless you get preowned.
if you don't mind me asking, what are you taking for your second round of university? edit: also - if my school said that all new students required a 500 dollar ipad which would last them for 4 years of school and textbooks would be provided for free in .pdf format, i would gladly do so. I probably spent close to 500 bucks on textbooks in my first year of sciences.
law .. only certain classes don't require texts .. some still do so yeah .. it's not really worth it. iPad just came out not too long ago ... take sometimes for publishers to catch on .. know what i mean .. laptop was the requirement and iPad was check-in early last week in student inbox (depending on the classes you signed up).
There will be no smaller ipads. Steve jobs has said 10" is as small as Apple will go. Any smaller and the device becomes impractical.
Seriously? Studying Law you need a textbook? I would just not bother I mean unless you can find apps on your iPad that will give you the resources then I wouldn't really get the iPad at all. Use the good all fashioned library resources and the laptop for any electronic research. At the end of the day I think you could share the current iPad with your wifey as you can organise the apps and documents in different sections so that they don't get muddled up between school work and home business. Like you said, your universities are only giving free iPads for the health apps or something like that. Law has nothing to do with it. I highly doubt that the university will give a damn if you really have an iPad taking into class or not. You could always experiment with the fact that for your first year try it without one and see if your results are any different to the ones who has an iPad. If results show that you have done a lot better than them then I will reset my case that I was right
doesnt make sense for the school to make you buy another ipad. should be able to use the one you have now. Also even if a new one comes out, apple wouldn't make it incompatible with the old one
not smaller but ipad2 is announced, feb 2011 is the production date and in the USA, the sales of the ipad2 will be in april also not all courses required reading books? there are always receiving the files in PDF and read it from elsewhere? i never bought books (or should say never read any of my books) for information systems degree
wow wow wow, source? Apple didn't announce shit. If Apple doesn't announce it, then everything is rumors and speculations. I don't mean to come off so rudely, but I cannot fathom why so much people state rumors and speculations as facts on a daily basis when it is clearly not announced by Apple.
