Is it healthy for my computer that I leave it on all the time? I leave my computer on pretty much 24/7. I'll turn it off maybe once or twice a week for a period of 8 hours, and that's about it. I basically leave it on to download stuff, for MSN so people can leave messages, and because I'm lazy to boot-up my computer. After leaving it on for awhile, it makes really loud 'humming' noise, that can be heard from rooms away from mine. . . . Is there a safe # of hours to leave it on? Or ... any other advice? -huh?
It wouldn't make much difference how long u leave it on for. They are designed to run =) I leave mine on for as long as i need. the only downside is the power consumption used, as it does end up costing a lil bit, tho not much. Just make sure u have some good parts, and it'll save power and won't have any problems
I left my computer on for almost 4month straight, it's not a problem as long as your computer is not overheated and if that does happen, you're ****ed. Especially with AMD computer, you can always overclock, however if you dont have the proper cooling system your computer will eventually burn out <_<
at least keep the monitor off. With a good power supply and airmovement everything should be fine. Its supposedly worse to turn it off and on constantly. But cooling is key because hd's can die fast if kept on so back up importnat information often.
Actually its ok to have your comp on 24/7 if u have proper cooling. The thing is if you are constantly downloading your hard drive might just die real quick... since it is a mechanical part.
ya..thats the only reason y i leave comp on is to dl..but if u're not doin anything with comp its a waste
heard some cases of peoples chipset fans dying whilst their comps are on and because it will only tell you if you restart your comp, people end up with fried motherboards
i wish i cud keep my comp on 24/7, my comp sounds like a car engine, wouldnt b able to get any decent sleep
Or just buy a new harddrive which makes less sound like mines. Anyway my computer is only on 24/7 to download stuff, well most of the times it finishes quite quick so there's no point in leaving it on 24/7.
