Ok, so it's been awhile since I degragged my drives so I download SmartDegrag and ran the thing overnight. All my drives got defragmented with the exception of my C: partition. It says 24% fragmented before and 23.2% fragmented after. Anyone know whats wrong?

    Check:
    1) make sure you have at least 10-15% of free space in your C: for defrag to work
    2) close down all running programs prior to attempting to defrag

    Try
    1) going to RUN in the startup menu,
    2) type msconfig,
    3) go to the startup TAB,
    4) unclick all the startup items,
    5) then restart your pc.
    6) defrag your harddrive.
    7) *Remember to click on all your startup programs that you unclicked before once the defrag is done.*

Safe mode would probably suffice instead of going though all that =p

You could try doing a chkdsk before defrag as there may be some bad sectors affecting it or perhaps a different defrager. For the record windows defrag is shit, however not sure about win7's or vista's since never has been any point in me upgrading due to crappy specs. Need a new rig but my job isn't paying enough T_T.

Edit: Using TuneUp Utilities 2010 for anyone that cares, auto defrags and other shit every week =D (easy on resources too while it autos everything which is a plus)

Just because it comes with windows doesn't necessarily make it good, nor should I have to use it.

    is good enough...
if you have your OS drive just for apps & windows, u will never need to defrag it
