OK today is Nov 1st I wanted to do this last week I'm going to put up my christmas tree within a week and already started listening to christmas music who thinks that i'm just ridiculous?????? and if you say that thanksgiving hasn't come yet, yes it has, it was in mid Oct
its not ridiculous but a bit too early imo..... we mostly get a tree in...early dec but i can imagine...who doesnt love the cozy & warm atmosphere hehehe
what's thanksgiving??? i herd that is when white people from Europe went to America and got fed by the natives and in return they killed the natives and called it thanksgiving?? a little correction would be unappreciated if i got it wrong.
Maybe it is a bit early.. I usually put mine up towards end of November.. But I'm not American so I don't understand the significance of Thanksgiving and its relationship to Christmas
^ Huh Thanksgiving ahas something to do with Christmas?? its strange to see celebrations in America/Canada that we have little knowledge of over here. hopefully some clever people can clarify it for us.
yea i dont really care about thankgiving for all those people who i met who hate the idea of christmas cause it's religious or commerialized to them that's what thanksgiving is for the happy holiday with friends and family
But I thought it's bad luck to have the Christmas decoration out too early (before Christmas) and not put them away too long after the celebrations (after Christmas) Not sure if that's true though -tongue2 You know, SUPERSTITIONS.
^ Superstitions? I thought you were always a factual person I think its a pretty refreshing idea to do that. Maybe i should put one up in my room so i get that cozy feeling. -cool2
Superstitions often stem from certain knowledge which held true in the past. In a manner not dissimilar with stereotyping. For example: it was believed that "Never cut a loaf of bread from both ends as the devil/evil residing in the bread will escape". Reason? In the old times (yes, back in the days when they actually have loafs of bread uncut), if a loaf of bread is cut from both ends, it is more likely to go stale/mold... And molding, as you would know, means there are bacterium and/or virus (most likely bacteria)... and more bacteria/virus in the house/kitchen means more likely to fall sick... So at a certain point in the past, the superstition did actually had its reason to be true. Just like old wives' knowledge. I don't oppose in superstition as long as it is recognized as so (superstition) instead of simple facts. I do not object to certain superstition because I know the possible reason behind said superstition and I am sold by THAT logic, not by the fact that it's superstitious.
wot's so strange abt it?? all the shops r doing it... -shrug n i dunno... i think it's kinda dumb to put the decorations up 2 weeks before christmas n then having to take them off right after but that's just me
Awee....cute idea...well..im all about Christmas...my family dunt bother to do anything cuz its a waste of time and money...they say...but i totally love it...i start listening to Christmas music mid November and since they dunt like Christmas-y feel...i only decorate my room and my computer room...
lol, hahaha. I guess i made the poll equal. kekekes awww man, don't start talking about Christmas now?!?!?! dude, its like a month away!!! lol, hahaha. xD I'm not in a mood for Christmas now, if you talk about it in like a month later - I would be happy!!! BUT NOT NOWW! =D
the only reason for thanksgiving for me is the day after, Black Friday!!! Christmas, no special meaning to me, but what the hell it's once in a year for Americans to be cheery, might as well "celebrate" it. Well the only true holiday my family ever celebrate is Chinese New Years lol, that's it.
