Jackie Chan and Jet Li said in their blogs Wednesday that they're ready to team up in a Hollywood film for the first time, a move that would bring together two of the biggest names in action cinema. Chan said on his Web site that his next movie will be "The J&J Project," as the planned film is currently known. On his blog, Li confirmed the partnership. "Coming up next, if there are no big changes, I will make 'The J&J Project,'" he said. The plot for "The J&J Project" remains unclear. Chan's spokesman, Solon So, said he didn't have more details about the movie. Calls to the Los Angeles-based company producing the movie, Relativity Media, were unanswered because their office was closed for the day. Chan told The Associated Press in August that "The J&J Project" was nearly a sealed deal, pending a script that both he and Li approved. He said once they decided on a script, shooting would start in March or April in Shanghai. "The J&J Project" is highly anticipated because it brings together two major kung fu movie stars with contrasting styles. Chan is known for his humorous, improvisational fighting, while Li tends to dominate his on-screen opponents. Both actors parlayed early success in the Hong Kong movie industry into Hollywood fame. Chan's American credits include the "Rush Hour" series, "Shanghai Knights" and "The Tuxedo," while Li appeared in "Lethal Weapon 4" and "Romeo Must Die." Chan is currently shooting the third installment of the "Rush Hour" series, and Li is filming the ancient Chinese epic "Ci Ma." After completing the "The J&J Project," Chan plans to direct his first movie in nine years, according to his blog. Chan identified his co-directors as Frankie Chan and Ricky Lau, but he didn't provide further details. Chan's spokesman, So, said the movie's plot has been written, but he declined to describe it.
