Jackie Chan takes on media "toughies"

International action star Jackie Chan has always given audiences a healthy and active vibe. In town to promote California Fitness Jackie Chan Sports Club last weekend, he joined the members in their workouts, exuding his infectious spirit, energy and passion. Members of the media were there too to throw him not punches, but tough questions.

Chan appeared at the gym in Velocity at Novena on Saturday afternoon to join the group of trainers in demonstrating a Samba dance. Though it was put up without a rehearsal, Chan gave his 100 percent and got people to join him in the dance.
Previously commenting that some of our local female celebrities are not very assiduous, Chan clarified the statement by specifically emphasizing the word "some"; and by that he said that he was not referring to all of the female artistes.
He explained, "As an artiste, being hardworking is not enough; he or she needs to go an extra mile."
A widespread believer in Chinese culture, Chan also believes in spreading this faith. Though his speech at the recent Boao Forum where he commented that "Chinese needs to be controlled" and that "Taiwan and Hong Kong have too much freedom and are chaotic" seemed to assert otherwise and have angered some media, causing their repugnance, Chan said he has nothing to clarify.
"I'm sure you guys (the media) know how to quote out of context and do street surveys. I can do it too. There will be people who support you and others who detest you. Street surveys are no longer convincing," he said.
When asked about his thoughts on Singapore, his reply was rather safe. "Whenever I see Singapore, I will mouth some vulgarities. But when I touch down, I will say: It's really beautiful!" he said.
After the media interview, Chan went on to share his experiences in exercising with the gym-goers. The action hero drew thrilled many of the females working out when he showed off his energetic boxing moves.
