Friday February 2, 2007 Hong Kong Janice Interviews Michael Kong Leung March 29th of last year, Michael Kong Leung held a concert at the HK Coliseum. 365 days later, it's his label mate Janice's turn. When Michael accepted an interview from the host Janice, he suddenly fantasizes about Malaysia having four seasons, then it can create beautiful recollections of dating. J = Janice M = Michael Kong Leung J: March 29th of last year, you had your first concert at the HK Coliseum. What was your feeling like? M: Very nervous, because the HK Coliseum has a good representation. Before the show started, my legs were all weak. I still regret asking a staff member if I could go back in! J: If you can choose, what kind of concert would you want to hold? M: A sunset concert. If the stage face the sunset, the fans can be soaking in water and listening to songs! J: Wow! This feeling is great! M: Yes! This year, it's your turn on March 29th. I'll specially fly to HK to watch your concert this year! J: Really? You're actually in the showbiz for many years. Did you ever feel like withdrawing? M: I did think about stopping, because I always wrote songs nonstop and could be said like a factory. It was very formatted, so I did want to stop at some point. The HK industry made me feel it's very magical. I didn't know what the fans like, and I didn't know what the media want. It was very mysterious! Slowly, I discovered you actually have to assume the music industry is like home then you can blend together. J: As a singer, do you feel the pressure is big? M: Haha! Because singers can't wipe their boogers that kind of pressure? But, I'll be myself! J: So you'll just wipe?! M: Wipe it slowly! Actually, it's better to be yourself with an ordinary mindset. Don't have to change too much, else you're not yourself. Public figures must pay attention to their own words and actions, because others will learn. Janice has a twin sister Jill. Michael has two elder brothers and a younger sister. As he's closer to his younger sister, this piano prince received the inspiration. J: I know you have a big family. What good and bad things you have to deal with? M: The good thing is getting along with siblings. When you go to school, you'll know how to get along with other friends. The bad thing is comparisons. Sometimes, parents are bias! J: I know your parents initially bought a piano for your sister to learn. In the end, you took part in the learning? M: Yes! They initially wanted my sister to learn the piano, but she was shy. She asked me to join her. Of course, I was very happy at that time! I continuously said, 'OK! OK!', because I really wanted to learn! J: What about getting along with your brothers? M: Of course, there's no problems now. But because my brothers are 7 and 10 years older than me, there's a generation gap. I'm closer to my sister! J: Ever thought about asking your sister to enter the showbiz? M: I'm thinking about having her sing backup in my new album. J: Like Hins Cheung having his father singing a song! M: Hmm...my father is not as daring as him. I think I heard him sing when was I little! J: Your whole family are Catholics? M: My parents are, so I'm a Catholic when I was born. J: I know you had a partner when you debuted. Why split in the end? M: We were not together and did not date! Actually, we wanted something new. We discovered it's difficult to create something new together, so we're not partners anymore! J: If you can change something in this world, what do you want to change? M: If all mighty, I definitely want no more wars! J: How about fantasies? M: Fantasies? I want Malaysia to have four seasons! I feel having four seasons creativity is stronger, like remembering the season when dating that year. J: Then it's boring dating in Malaysia? M: Not really, because I'm Malaysia tourism ambassador. Then...dating in Malaysia is pretty happy! Don't have to wear so much clothes that troublesome. Malaysia is pretty good! Haha! Post Interview: Three Languages Changing Nonstop Michael is recognized as the prince of love songs. When facing the 'westernized' Janice, the two communicated in Cantonese, English, and Putonghua making others confused. Fortunately, Janice did her homework. At an urgent time, she thoroughly understood Michael. He displayed a talkative side. The interview was completed within the scheduled time. um... cantonese IS putonghua and i had no idea michael spoke it until like two weeks ago... but you can still tell he has a mando accent haha!
