It’s official—Jason Chan (陳智燊) and Sarah Song (宋熙年) are finally married! The couple, who have been together for seven years, officially tied the knot in a private wedding ceremony held in England, Jason’s home country, on September 19, 2016. The couple held their ceremony in the Buxted Park Hotel, a 300-year-old establishment in East Sussex, South East England. Jason took a few days off from work to surprise his wife, who was in Australia visiting her parents. Jason flew to Australia without Sarah’s knowledge and surprised her, proposing to her in front of her parents. They applied for their marriage certificate a year later. Sarah was in charge of their wedding in England. Just like their upbringing, the couple held two different wedding ceremonies—a western and a Chinese traditional wedding. Sarah wore the custom-made engagement ring that Jason designed for her at the event. Sarah’s bridesmaids included Leanne Li (李亞男), Samantha Ko (高海寧), and Sherry Chen (陳爽). They all wore custom-made bracelets with their names engraved on them. Sherry’s son was Sarah’s flower boy. As if even heaven was watching, East Sussex stayed rain-free during their wedding ceremony. Sarah cried when she walked to the front stage, thankful to hear blessings from her close family and friends. Her friends even surprised Sarah with a hula hoop performance, the same dance to which Sarah herself performed when she competed for Miss Chinese International back in 2007. Jason and his groomsmen performed the background music. They held a 10-table reception after the wedding. In a long distance interview with TVB’s Scoop <東張西望>, Jason recommended the venue of their wedding, saying, “We chose to hold our wedding in the outskirts, where everywhere around you is just green meadow. It’s a very relaxing place.” Asking how his friends pranked him during the door games, Jason laughed and said, “They forced me to read out a declaration about loving my wife. They forced me to repeat certain phrases a few times because I apparently wasn’t speaking clearly enough.” In terms of their honeymoon, Sarah said, “We’re going to keep this a secret of course! But I am looking forward to taking a long break and relax. Life’s been busy!” After their England wedding, Jason and Sarah plan to hold separate wedding ceremonies in Australia and Hong Kong.
