Currently filming for TVB’s comedy Cousin, You are Good <老表,你好嘢> with Roger Kwok (郭晉安) and Wong Cho Lam (王祖藍), former ATV actress Joey Meng (萬綺雯) plans to film 50 episodes with TVB this year. There are also plans for Joey to star with Michael Miu (苗僑偉) and Bosco Wong (黃宗澤) in an upcoming 30-episode grand production! Facing a talent drain due to increasing local competition, TVB has recently recruited many experienced former ATV actors to headline their own dramas, attempting to keep their dramas fresh and competent in the market. Among the former ATV actors that joined TVB recently, Joey Meng is the most sought after by TVB producers. Currently filming for the 20-episode comedy Cousin, You Are Good, Joey is looking forward to film a 30-episode drama with TVB soon after completing Cousin, You Are Good. Joey confirmed, “Yes, another producer did approach me about filming an upcoming production. I’m really attracted to the story and my character is something I’ve never tried before. If our schedules work out, I really want to film it!” It is rare for Joey to pick up a new drama after just completing one, even during her days with ATV. She said, “Good characters are hard to come by. I’m willing to try everything, and I get excited when I come upon good characters. Since Cousin, You Are Good is a comedy, it’s not as stressful to film. Before filming began I already received the scripts of the first eight episodes, so I have time to prepare. I’m well-rested, so I’m ready for more!” When asked about her competition with Alice Chan (陳煒), another former ATV star who also joined TVB in 2012, Joey said, “I never like to compare myself with others. Alice and I collaborated many times before, so if we were to be compared, it should have been years ago. We’re all in a new environment now; the most important thing is that we’re enjoying our work and having a great time.” Would Joey only choose the scripts in which she plays the lead character? She clarified, “I never asked about things like that! To me, I can do anything as long as the character is interesting and I’m with the right costar.” Postpones Baby Plans for TVB Joey, who plans to film 50 episodes with TVB this year, has no choice but to postpone her baby plans with husband Chan Sap Sam (陳十三). Joey laughed, “When TVB approached me, we were indeed thinking about having a baby. I’m concentrated on my work now, so I’ll leave it to fate.” Asked whether she and her husband had reached a consensus, Joey said, “Yes. We talk about everything with each other. We share the same values, and my family is very supportive and encourages me to do what I want to do.” Although Joey becomes excited with new challenges, there is still one thing she’s not quite ready for yet. “I’ve never filmed bed scenes, nor do I want to. Besides, I’m married and extremely bony. Let’s not do so!” Creds: ihktv
