Joey Wins Award From TVB Without Showing Up The night before, TVB's Jade Solid Gold Round 1 music awards were held and Hacken Lee, Twins, Eason Chan, Kenny B, Denise Ho, among others were in attendance to receive their awards. TVB's policy of "Don't Show Up = No Award" was forgotten as Joey Yung received an award without attending the ceremony. Joey was in Malaysia at an event for TVB. Producer Poon Yu Gai states that the reason for Joey winning was because her song garnered many votes. He was then asked if an artist cannot show up because they are working for TVB, will they still receive an award and if it was fair to the other artists, he answered, "It depends how many votes the song garners. If it is high then we will take it into consideration. Even Hacken Lee and Andy Lau do not always get the highest number of votes." On the other hand, Kay Tse who is 8 month pregnant insisted on attending the award ceremony to personally receive her award, though she did not perform. well she was away for TVB themselves, so saying that if shes not there she dont get it, aint exactly fair
That rule of thumb is kind of retarded anyways... plus, it's possible that TVB couldn't give it to anyone else... you know, the dark side of show-biz?
