  1. A THUG who cooked a kitten in a microwave dodged jail yesterday — as the tragic pet’s owner branded the let-off “pathetic”.

We told yesterday how Kevin Baker, 18, faced death threats from animal lovers after he put the tiny moggy — which had to be put down — in the oven for 20 seconds. And after he dodged a jail term, the cat’s owner Jacqueline Ross, 43, said: “He should have been locked up. It’s pathetic.” SSPCA Senior Inspector Mark Lumgair added: “This was a horrific act of animal cruelty.”

Forfar Sheriff Court heard Baker, right, told cops after the sick crime last October: “I was being an idiot, just joking about.” Baker, of Forfar got two years’ probation, 120 hours’ community service and was told to get counselling. The yob — who OWNS two cats — was also banned from keeping animals for seven years. A CAT was rescued by fire crews yesterday from a 20ft hole in Dunfermline
