The 2016 QQ Music Awards was held on March 23, honoring the artists who have achieved digital success throughout the year from the large music portal. Taiwanese American singer Leehom Wang (王力宏) swept three major categories, and was one of the biggest winners of the night along with South Korea’s Big Bang and Mainland China’s Li Yuchun (李宇春).

At the pop music ceremony, Leehom won “Most Popular Male Singer from Hong Kong and/or Taiwan”, “Best Mandarin Album” and “Best Music Producer” for his 2015 studio album, Your Love <你的愛>. He performed one of his newer singles, “Heaven and Earth Overturned” <天翻地覆>, to thunderous applause.

2015 was a year of great progress for Leehom, and the singer-songwriter is reaping it success this year. Leehom has four films lined up for 2016 - Lifeline <生命線>, a concert film Open Fire 3D: The Movie <火力全開3D>, his second directorial film, and a new movie Pearl with Oscar-winning actress Juliette Binoche.

Lifeline has already wrapped up filming and Open Fire 3D is at its final stages of post-production. At the moment, the 39-year-old has taken a break from music and is preparing for his second directorial debut as well as Pearl, which begins principal photography at the end of the year.

In fact, 2016 is already looking to be an even bigger year for Leehom—his younger brother, Likai, has recently gotten married; Leehom’s wife Lee Jinglei (李靚蕾) is also expecting to deliver their second child sometime in November or December.

Leehom said, “It’s a good start for the new year. Hopefully the plan to film both Chinese-language and English-language films is a success!”
