Leehom Wang’s (王力宏) mysterious wife Lee Jinglei (李靚蕾) may not be as wholesome as she seems. A source revealed that Jinglei hides a wild, partying past and was recently engaged to her previous boyfriend in February of this year. Leehom’s surprise marriage announcement on November 28 generated both interest and skepticism. The public quickly went on a hunt for information related to Jinglei, looking for clues that could have hinted at their highly secretive relationship. The two met over twelve years ago and allegedly became romantically involved with the help of their families. A half-Chinese, half-Japanese Columbia University doctoral candidate, Jinglei was previously known by her Japanese name Nishimura Michiko and spent her formative years in Taiwan. Appearing sweet and intelligent, many find Jinglei a good match for Leehom. His parents are also pleased with his choice, and have long since welcomed Jinglei into the family. Jinglei’s Secret Ex-Fiancé? Despite her outward appearance, Jinglei allegedly leads a drastically different lifestyle. On December 2, a man who claims to be Jinglei’s friend spoke to the media about his surprise upon hearing the marriage news. He alleged that Jinglei is known to attend wild parties at night, and is quite materialistic, carrying only expensive name-brand purses. Even though Jinglei had removed most of her social media content, netizens discovered old photos showing her with liquor bottles in hand and wearing heavy makeup. The friend also revealed that Jinglei was in a relationship with her ex-boyfriend as recently as this year, and that the two were engaged in February. He pointed out that the dog that Jinglei held in Leehom’s family photo is the same one jointly owned by her former love, and that the ex took a photo with the dog only a few weeks ago, showing that the two remain in close contact. This latest allegation puts Leehom and Jinglei’s relationship into question. Some are skeptical about the legitimacy of their marriage while others believe that Jinglei may have cheated on her ex in order to court Leehom. Even if the claims turn out to be true, Jinglei’s previous engagement seemed rather short-lived. In April, she was already spotted accompanying Leehom to England when he was invited to give a guest lecture at the Oxford Union. Photos showed that they two were wandering the street together, though at the time, many assumed that Jinglei was Leehom’s assistant or a random staff member. Jinglei later visited Leehom on the set of his Hollywood film Cyber <駭客交鋒> in August and befriended Leehom’s co-star Tang Wei (湯唯). Despite Tang Wei’s rumored romance with Leehom, the two women share no hard feelings. Tang Wei even revealed a photo of the three of them together, showing off their close friendship. Creds: Sohu
