Leila Tong recalled with a cup of coffee In places where there’s Chinese, you would hear Teresa Teng’s songs, although she died quite long ago, but her songs are still listened by thousands of people, her sweet voice is just like the antidote to the soul, and let people calm down. A café that opened at East Tsim Sha Tsui Station used Teresa Teng as the theme, and you can listen to Teresa’s songs here, and enjoyed a cup of coffee, which coffee beans originated from Teresa’s hometown, as for Leila Tong, who listened to Teresa’s songs as she grew, felt that this was heart-warming. From kids to elderly, everyone knew how to sing Teresa’s songs. And walking into this café and listening to Teresa’s song, it made people recall about Teresa. Using idol’s voice as alarm A lot people has watched Leila, who was a child actress, grow up, and for Leila, she grew up with Teresa’s songs. Leila said: “Since I knew what I was doing, I’ve listened to Teresa’s song, because I am an Indonesian-Chinese, thus my familt listened to Chinese songs more, and Teresa was well-liked by Chinese, thus I’ve listened to her songs since I was small. I remembered that my mum would play Teresa’s songs and asked me to wake up, and every time I hear her calming voice, I’ll wake up obediently. “ Thus Leila was very familiar with Teresa’s song and when she went on stage in Mainland, she would sing Teresa’s song "The Moon Represents My Heart". Leila said: “Teresa’s songs have a long lifespan, there’s nobody who don’t know about this song, no matter how many times you sing it, the audiences would still be happy, but my personal favorite is "I only care about you" and "Meet my lover again", and the melody is good.” Using organic food Although this shop is small, but it has the aura of Teresa, for example there are a lot of album covers and photos on the wall, and they also aired Teresa’s video on the other end, they also sell Teresa’s soveniors and videos in the shop, it’s no wonder that fans pour in daily to recall about their idol. Under the sweet voice of Teresa, food of course cant be far from Teresa, for example desserts named after Teresa, and coffee from her hometown. Because they want to follow Teresa’s healthy image, the food here are all about health, for example using organic vegetables in their salad, using home-made organic tofu and low-sugar syrup to make dessert. As for Leila, who loved organic food, praised the concept of the shop. Leila said: “It’s important to be conscious of what you eat and drink, but what’s most rare is the concept, it provided jobs for the vulnerable groups, I’ll bring my mum to support later!” Source: The Sun Translated by: Firesheepy @ AsianFanatics
I am not sure how to react to this article. I personally love Teresa Teng myself but I hate to see businesses using her legacy as marketing gimmick to lure in customers. It's just WRONG. I appreciate the unique concept and all; however, I have heard similar places across Asia .. there were ones in Taiwan, China, Singapore, etc... I hope these businessmen are not using Teresa's music to attract patrons cuz their food suck big time. Organic and healthy don't mean "good" stuffs all the time.
