Sunday June 11, 2006 Japan In conjunction with the opening of World Cup, Leo and Jan who are working in Japan currently asked each other out to watch the first match between Germany and Costa Rica at a cafe opened by Hidetoshi Nakata (Jap footballer). The cafe broadcasts all 64 World Cup matches live, hence all 150 tickets were sold out long time ago. However, upon showing up Leo was offered to take a seat at the VIP section. Both of them stayed there till mid-game, then moved to the common area and joined the rest of the football fans to cheer on the teams. They were pretty absorbed in the match, and were seen clenching their fists or biting their lips very often. Leo even accidentally spilled hot tea on himself and Jan when he jumped up in excitement, triggering laughters between themselves. Germany won 4:2 eventually, and a bunch of German football fans shrieked triumphantly, while Leo and Jan applauded along. Leo said," It's uncommon to have 6 goals in the first match. Speaking about skills, Germany has a slight advantage. However, Costa Rica put up a good performance and both their goals were exciting ones. I support Brazil personally and my favourite is Ronaldo. I will definitely not miss any game of Brazil's! In the cafe, two Shanghainese fans spotted Leo and excitedly asked for a picture with him and also autographs. Besides, some Japanese male football fans recognised Leo a celebrity from HK and invited him for a drink after the match. Being his first time watching World Cup in Japan, Leo found it a remarkable experience and praised Nakata, the prominent national player for Japan, for the idea of designing the cafe with audience seats alike a football stadium. He then said," I have to go for photo shooting tomorrow morning. But World Cup is held once every four years, so I definitely can't afford to miss it even though I have to stay up late!"
