August 21st, 2006 As the director of the music movie A Melody Looking, Leon with Chapman To and Janice arrived at New York's Soho district to film the day before. Actually, nearby was where Leon filmed the last scene in Comrades, Almost A Love Story 10 years ago. He said, "Today, I can say being back to a familiar place. The last scene in Comrades, Almost A Love Story is about me watching the news of Teresa Teng's death at the front of a shop. Then, Maggie and I meet again. The shop is nearby." The day before in the early morning at 6:30 a.m., Leon arrived to the place to make arrangements and carefully inspects equipments. He also personally demonstrated to the actors and actresses on where to stand in front of the camera. Before working, the group of people burned incense and prayed for the filming to go smoothly. They even put their incense in a flower pot as incense burner in front of somebody's shop. In the music movie, Janice plays a pizza delivery girl and meets the Hapkido Chapman on the street. Before filming, Leon personally instructed Janice the postures holding the pizza box, taking steps, and even helped her put on a helmet. He asked Janice, "Why has your swelling not gone away?" Janice embarrassingly joked, "It'll go away later!" Janice revealed that she drove a scooter the day before. Originally, all the driving was to be done by the stunt double, but Janice requested to perform on her own. She said, "I filmed an ad where I drove a motorcycle before. But when filming the main streets, Leon persisted to use a stunt double. When on the small streets with a few cars, he then is not worried for me to drive. Before, he and I attended a driving course." After filming, Leon, Chapman, and Janice took casting photos. Leon requested Chapman to embrace Janice from behind. The photographer Cheung Man Wah joked that the placement of Chapman's hands looks like attacking Janice's chest. The frightened Chapman said, "Oh, I'll put them on top." He immediately put his arms on Janice's shoulders. Moreover, Chapman expressed that he finally had some time to spend with his wife Krystal Tin the night before. They first went to watch real-life people with puppets performing in Avenue Q. Then, they went to eat steak dinner. Credits: http://www.janice-vidal.com
