Li Bingbing (李冰冰) is confirmed to join director Michael Bay’s Transformers 4. The Sino-American production will partly be filmed in China, and several Chinese actors will be chosen through a reality TV show named Transformers 4 Chinese Actor Talent Search. Named as “Asia Star of the Year” by American entertainment magazine, Variety, Li Bingbing is already a known name in Hollywood. Last year, Binginb played Ada Wong in Resident Evil: Retribution, earning much praise. Sid Ganis, director of Marvel Entertainment, said, “She is extremely talented. She has the potential to be an international superstar.” Director Michael Bay is also looking forward to working with Li Bingbing. He said, “I’m excited to be able to work with Li Bingbing. Her joining will only add more star power to the movie.” Li Bingbing will join Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer and Sophia Myles in the franchise sequel. Bingbing said, “I am excited to be able to work with director Michael Bay. Transformers has many fans in China so I’m really happy to be part of this franchise. Thank you Paramount Pictures for inviting me. I look forward to filming.” China Movie Channel will assist in film casting, post-production works as well as promotional events. As part of the deal, aside from recruiting Li Bingbing, at least four local actors will be cast in the roles of an action sportsman, a cute girl, a sexy goddess and a technical expert. The four roles will be chosen through reality TV show, Transformers 4 Chinese Actor Talent Search, in June. Several well-known Chinese names also took part in the auditions. These include Peter Ho (何润东), Lei Jiayin (雷佳音), Allie Chan (陈雅丽), Mini Fu (付梦妮) and Monica Mu (穆婷婷). The yet-to-be named sequel will take place four years after the events in Transformers: Dark of the Moon and is said to be darker than its predecessors. According to Michael Bay, the production will use new smaller IMAX 3D cameras. Creds: 21CN
This is probably going to be like iron Man 3... where China gets their own version with the Chinese stars making an appearance in the China version only. That's just a silly idea.
