At the 2016 China International Film and TV Programs Exhibition held in Beijing yesterday, TVB and Tencent’s Penguin Pictures jointly announced that their upcoming big project, Line Walker 2 <使徒行者>, will officially begin principal photography this October. Line Walker 2 is a prequel to the original drama, which was released back in 2014. According to TVB, Line Walker 2 will focus on the mysterious background of triad leader Foon Hei Gor, popularly portrayed by returning cast member Hui Shiu-hung (許紹雄), and his relationship with the missing undercover operation headed by Chief Inspector Cheuk Hoi (Michael Miu 苗僑偉). The prequel aims to tie the loose ends left by the ending of the original series. Co-headlining the prequel will be new cast members Jessica Hsuan (宣萱), Moses Chan (陳豪), Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪), Pakho Chau (周柏豪), and Priscilla Wong (黃翠如). Moses and Benjamin will be playing triad bosses. Original Line Walker stars Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) and Raymond Lam (林峯), however, will not be returning for the prequel. The original Line Walker, produced by Jazz Boon (文偉鴻), became a television sensation when it was released in Hong Kong in 2014. It was the highest-rated drama of the year, the most popular drama of the year, and broke viewership ratings in China when it was made available for stream on Youku. The drama also spawned a successful film sequel, starring veteran actors Nick Cheung (張家輝), Louis Koo (古天樂), and Francis Ng (吳鎮宇). Line Walker 2 is slated for 30 episodes, and will first premiere on Tencent’s QQ platform in June 2017 before hitting Hong Kong television screens later on in the year.
