ok, so i have this Linksys WRT54G router. when im on the internet, sometimes the internet just randomly stops and then the only way to get it back up is to turn the router off then back on. You could try upgrading the firmware for the router....but if you kill your router, it's not my fault =P

wireless network brosing...im using the WMP54G with Speedbooster...Normally i get a "Very Good: connection..with that..my realplayer freezes..I put some tin foil around the intenna which lowered the connection signal to "Low" and Very Low" but i get faster network broswing and my realplayer works fine..pretty ironic

wireless net browsing can easily get intereference from other device such as house phones or microwaves...reason being is that router runs on the 2.4ghz freq..anything else in ur place running on that freq will cause interference....

I actually had no problems with it until i reset the router...guess it will fix itself over time

...D-Link is a more reliable brand.

hey i have this at work and i notice the same problem

it turn out it was the wireless connection on the end user and not the router...

maybe you should check the end user side

The linksys wireless wrt54g router have a reputation for acting strange at times. Most cases it is due to an unstable firmware.

actually the linksys wrt54g V5 is not really that stable, when u are downloading p2p stuff for over 5 days the router tend's to get hang. the best way is to flash ur router to a third party firmware example like dd-wrt or hyper-wrt

for Linksys wrt54g ver 1 to 4 can go for hyper wrt
    http://www.thibor.co.uk/

as for linksys wrt54g ver 5 go for dd-wrt
    http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page

but becarefull as wrong files will spiol ur router so flash with care

On the linksys you can go to the administratons page under QOS to adjust your port and service. One more thing you might try is dynamic routing.
For DSL try not to run the ethernet cord next to any power wire and flourscent light plug in the same power outlet.
Try to power off your modem and router once a week about 20 min on so to resync, power off meaning unplug the power adapter not just turning it off.

I have a WRT54GL. No idea how the factory firmware performs though because the first thing I did was DD-WRT it... But the DD-WRT has been very stable, and QoS is great!

    I've used a D-Link 524, biggest POS router I've have ever encountered.
