I'm listening to a live radio station. I'm using windows media player to listen. It keeps lagging through out the show. By lagging I mean it stops, and it seems to be loading. It takes a while for the radio to go back on.
The file type of the radio file is .asx

Is there a way to avoid this?

Content's being played faster than it can load.

  3. radio requires the content to be downloaded to your computer, before it can be played, similar to youtube videos.

the problem kontra is trying to point out to you, is that the content is not downloading fast enough, to keep up to the pace of the radio songs to be played.

you are trying to play something that hasn't been downloaded yet. that's the lag you're feeling.

you're doing programming, read this. you should understand. Lag - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There are few issues to factor in why it stops playing.
    - Your isp is too slow/laggy to keep up
    - Your pc just way too old/out of date or too much junk on it
    - The stream is too over congested, and the stream can't keep up with your request
