The concerts around the world on 7 different continents, to promote an awareness of global warming. Um...I think we all know that there's global warming, but the thing is...there are not enough of us to actually do anything about it...until the governments change their ways....there's nothing that we can do. Do you think these concerts worked? Oh and btw, the concert in Shanghai wasn't that great...where were the BIG stars? No Jay, no Andy Lau, no Hacken Lee...instead...god, there was Joey, Anthony Wong...thus proving that even the popular or rather REAL Chinese stars still don't care.
maybe the real chinese stars are busy or something...Yea, i watched joeys performance and i kinda enjoyed it!
No with those limos that are taking those stars to those concerts, plus all that extra bottles of water, and most of those people are not taking the bus to go to the stadiums. I don't know what this type of concerts accomplish.
They never work imo. To end poverty, governments should play a key role in developing and structuring their economies. Piling up big amount of money will sooner or later fall back to zero. To keep a country sustainable and become a developed nation, as the centre of economics goes, it should involve structural reforms and capitalising the markets.
i don't think it'll work ... concerts ... people go there, enjoy and forget about it in a few days afterwards. as for the rest of the world, we watch it on tv that consumes electricity that is being generated by burning coal. so there you go ... does it save the earth?
Doubt it would work, like ab289 said. I watched the Japan one too and I only caught Abingdon Boys School, Cocco, and Koda Kumi. People would go, have a good time, and probably forget the whole reason why the concert was held.
these wont work. we all know that .... global warming, polluiions, greenhouse effect etc... ppl just live their own live. who cares about it?
Erm I do care about it...-unsure But I just don't need those concerts and Al Gore and friends to tell me to do something about it so I didn't watch it. I expect the governments to give the good example and offer citizens more tools to improve the environment. Don't know what more I can do other than turn the tv off what I already always did instead of letting it on Stand By, seperate the waste, save toxic stuff like empty paint cans and batteries up and hand it over to a collection point, don't leave the lights on and we have these CFL's almost immediately when they were available for the consumers instead of using the lightbulbs. Re-use plastic bags and or take my own bags with me. Environment friendly class A+ washmachine and fridge...And I don't have a car.
The concert isn't meant to change everything overnight. Its just to inform people that there is something wrong with the environment. It will help a little by raising awareness, but it won't have a huge effect obviously :\
I was at the gig yesterday at wembley stadium(uk) It was a great event from Red Hot Chilli Peppers to Snow Patrol and with Madonna to end things off! Too many other artists to name! Lets hope the word gets around....
seems like a good cause but i dont think everyone goin to the concerts are there mainly for saving the planet. And of course many ppl are sayin that the concerts are actually causing more pollution to the earth because all the artists and bands are travelling using inefficient means of transportation.
You can never end a lot of the stuff these stars are trying to end. The most you can do it make it a little better.
But are these concerts free? Maybe the proceeds will be channeled to good use? (hopefully) I have just missed the NY Live Earth concert again on TV (managed to catch the last 20 minutes or so)... -ann
^No free concerts; for a regular plastic seat that thy call a front seat you have to pay $250 (New York) and one of the critcs were that the organisator didn't state it clearly where the money goes to if they've made profit. If all artists, crew, technicians etc. have been paid, whatever money is left will go to Al Gore's own organisation instead of donating it to other projects/environment organisations.
I think basically, people have to come up with things that can replace the usage of things like CFC (for our air-conditioner, fridge, etc. people just can't live without this items so a replacement must be found)which thins out our ozone layer, and cause global warming. The government has to come up with ways to continue developing cities but continue to preserve plants and animals. biodegradable items should also be used in common rather than non-biodegradable items like plastic bags, etc because ppl are just too lazy to recycle their goods, making tons of waste every year. And, people must grow aware and stop being selfish, especially when it comes to the lives of others but humans. We share this place with animals and plants too. We don't rule the planet. We share it. We have only 1 place to live and we're killing it. All individuals should be aware and do something, otherwise this won't end and nothing would get done.
