Well, at least rice is not part of to "to avoid" list for most detox diets -- meaning, it is "healthier" than most other forms of carbs.

White rice should be avoided, as with white bread, and most pasta... Brown rice and wheat breads are fine... However, if you can't not eat white rice, just watch how much you eat... a cup a day shouldn't hurt ur diet...

Rice in general is pure carbs, thankfully they're complex carbs which are good for you, unlike simple carbs like sugar...

However, while white rice is basically pure carb, brown rice have greater nutritional value, most importantly, it has roughly 3x more fiber and is a good source of oils that decrease cholesterol(help lowers chance of heart disease)... in other words, the fiber alone will fill you up faster than the white rice and it improves your digestive system ;)

the white/wheat argument is basically the same, except white bread has more starch than wheat... starch = sugar, sugar = bad ;)

I'm not saying its taboo to eat these foods, I'm just saying if possible, stay away... for example, if you eat out and u have a choice of wheat or white bread, go for the wheat... otherwise just limit the amount and its fine :D

just eat healthy portions, if you're full don't force yourself to finish the food.
don't eat junk food all that much, if you can resist eating it then don't eat it.
exercise alot as in walking wherever you can. it makes a big difference.
if you do most of that, keeping rice in your diet should be fine.

It's more grainy and coarser in general. And need more water and takes longer time to cook.
