Louis Koo (古天樂) is not only one of the industry most charitable superstars, he is also one of the most low-profile. In the last eight years, Louis has established about 85 public schools across rural areas in Mainland China, all which were done behind the eyes of the prying media. The quiet actor never liked to talk about his charitable works. When the media first found out about his humanitarianism in 2012, the actor remained tight-lipped, always responding with a “no comment” whenever he was asked about his schools. In early 2014, it was reported that Louis had already founded 61 schools across rural China through his charity foundations. He has also funded projects for medical clinics and water supplies. As of January 2016, Louis has founded 24 more, totaling to 85 public primary schools. Louis has been building schools since the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, a disaster that killed over 69,000 people and left nearly 5 million people homeless. He established his charitable foundation the following year, and hired a team of volunteers to diligently work on rebuilding schools across rural areas of Mainland China. Occasionally, Louis would take time off his busy schedule to overlook the schools’ constructions, and would even interact with the students. The 45-year-old actor’s quiet methods of giving touches fans and colleagues alike. His generosity and warm heart is definitely the complete contrast of his cool image. Creds: ihktv
I remember right after the Sichuan earthquake, Zhang Ziyi was at the forefront of star powered charity, asking for donations through her. Then it turns out that much of the money remained unaccounted for and Zhang had to hem and haw when publicly called to task. Koo, on the other hand, is a star in every way. Not only did he NOT seek self aggrandizement from the tragedy, but worked silently and without fanfare to put have the kind of impact that Zhang boasted about. IMHO, he's aces Source: http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/china/2010-03/16/content_9593921.htm
I remember this...yup and Louis is a good example of HK Chinese goodness! Not stupid Zhang Bad Mainlander Chinese...they should learn from Louis!!! Reading the interview "CD: A professor once said, you, Zhang Ziyi, are more powerful than Confucius in promoting Chinese culture overseas. What's your take on it?" This is retarded that a professor would say that of her. She's not that great of an actress IMO, heck she only got famous because of CTHD wasn't it? Ugh...
A first class person, he doesn't need people to acknowledge his charitable causes, which makes what he does more meaningful and real!
