Louise Lee finds company in a puppy Avid fans of Hong Kong dramas should be more than familiar with the affable "mommy" Louise Lee. Be it as Leung Yun Shin (or more affectionately known as Shan-Yi), in thousand-episodes long running drama "A Kindred Spirit" or "Ho Ma" in the recent award-winning and critically acclaimed "Moonlight Resonance", Lee's portrayal of motherly characters were impressive. Though the characters she played had many children, in reality, she has only one daughter who has migrated to Canada. Currently, she lives with a puppy. "I love puppies. My daughter is grown up and married. She is now in Canada, not by my side," she said. In drama "Gem of Life" which is currently still broadcasting in Hong Kong, Lee's character, Mrs. Hong, is somewhat different from her previous characters. Lee transformed into a money-grubber and a fierce mother; the only constant is that she is still a mother concerned about the benefits of her children. "On the surface, she is not a fierce mother; she is just dull. I think Mrs. Hong is a good mother; everyone understands everything she says. She hopes everyone can sit down and talk over things, but what happens in the end, she cannot control. She just feels that, she has paved the road for her children, but whether to take that route, it really depends on them. She is not a mother who does not care about her family." In "Gem of Life", Hong plotted and schemed so that her girls get to marry rich men. In reality, her ideal son-in-law is knowledgeable but need not be rich. "Money is not important, but you sure cannot do without. A girl should get to know boys who are studious so that you can discuss about things. He will have his own opinions and strong analytic skills. This is why I value knowledge very much." A woman's bliss is to find a man who is loyal and truly loves her; but Lee has lost confidence in love. "I think to a woman, it is important to find a partner who loves her and whom she can trust. If he is thoughtful at anytime and in any situation, it is a real bliss. But it is hard to find someone like this now." Though the saying goes: "you sure can't do without money", Lee believes in that money and fortune are worldly objects. She says this with experience; Lee has had two marriages, one of which broke into conflict because of money. "I've had had two husbands; the first over-valued money. The second didn't really bother about me because I keep my own earnings. I think money is best spent on family to improve living standard. I think we do not need too much money; the more we have, the more troubles there will be."
