The cast of Beauty at War <金枝慾孽(貳)> attended a press conference to promote the upcoming palace drama. Lead actresses Sheren Tang (鄧萃雯) and Christine Ng (伍詠薇) looked regal and domineering in their full costumes, channeling their characters Consort Yu and Consort Dowager Shun. Moses Chan (陳豪) and Eddie Kwan (關禮傑) entertained the crowd with a live performance of Kunqu Opera, showing off results from months of private training with an opera master.

Sheren, who previously suffered from anxiety during filming, feels nervous about the premiere next Monday night. She told reporters that she has waited nine years for this sequel and is excited to see the new production. Earlier reports claimed that Beauty at War scriptwriters originally planned to develop a lesbian relationship between Consort Yu and her wet nurse Sheung Ling, played by Ada Choi (蔡少芬). The story line was ultimately canceled after Sheren strongly rejected the idea. Sheren quickly denied the rumors when asked to comment. She explained that she, Ada, and Moses will be involved in a love triangle, and viewers should watch the drama to find out more about their complex relationships.

To generate buzz for the new series, TVB even broke tradition and invited their former executive producer Jonathan Chik (戚其義) to the event. Chik addressed earlier speculations and clarified that Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) will not be making a guest appearance in Beauty at War. He had indeed invited Charmaine and Bowie Lam (林保怡) to film several recollection scenes, but the two were unable to participate due to schedule conflicts. Chik also expressed his hopes that his last TVB production will also be his best, and did not deny the possibility of working with TVB again in the future.

Moses also spoke to the press about girlfriend Aimee Chan’s (陳茵媺) recent experiences while filming in Malaysia. He said that Aimee is having a good time overseas and was never harassed on-set. Moses believes that it was simply the camera angle that stirred the gossips.

As for rumors about co-star Christine Kuo (苟芸慧) who was recently dubbed the third party in Aaron Kwok (郭富城) and Lynn Hung’s (熊黛林) breakup, Moses believes they are untrue and should not be taken seriously. Kenny Wong (黃德斌) and Katy Kung (龔嘉欣) also supported Christine at the event, saying that Christine is a pure and quiet girl and that fans should not believe in these baseless stories.
