i'd like to get a macbook for a change but my sis told me that a new generation will be out in june. i thought i read somewhere here that it was out in sept last year .. can't find the thread .. lol anyone here follow apple products? plz share any sugg or recomd for the macbook. thx.

  2. suggestion: try the Mac OS before you jump on it.

  3. if you never had a mac there is definitely a learning curve, how fast you pick it up is just how tech savy you are of course, but this can be said for any new electronic device...

the MacBook Pro's (MBP) with the new 'i' processors are out now and most likely will not be a refresh for some time......

if you are to buy a MBP go for the 15" i7...

there aren't many options for the regular MacBook though...

If you aren't using it for class, definitely go 15". But otherwise, 13" would be better. With the improved battery life, it will definitely come in handy.

  5. the question that should be asked is: why should you get a macbook? what do you need Mac OS to do that a regular laptop can't do?

if you don't need Mac specific functionality, macbooks are nothing but a waste of money. unless you're going for the style and/or brand. if you're going for the style/trend, macbooks are overplayed.

The entire lineup of MacBooks was refreshed about 2 weeks ago.

Unfortunately, the 13" MBP does not have an i5 core as was hoped by many. The only major upgrades were an additional 2 gb of DDR3 ram and a bigger hard drive.

If you have the money, the 15" MBP is the best option, with the Core i5 on the low end and the i7 on the upper end.

Amazon.com: Apple MacBook Pro MC373LL/A 15.4-Inch Laptop: Electronics

If you just want a good, all around portable laptop, the MBP 13" is the best option. You'll spend a day or two getting used to Mac Os X, but after that point, you'll wonder why the fuck windows is so inefficient.

yea the macbook pros were refreshed but the macbook itself hasn't been updated. i reckon prob july or september time they will update it. usually september come to think about it. reckon all they will do is put in some minor updates though bcos it can't rele be as good as the entry level macbook pro as that is more expensive.

It's has a much better battery life compared to the conventional laptop, and not to mention being less bulky. But I don't think it warrants such a big price tag. Or you can put windows 7 on a MBP:D

It's still better than most laptops in terms of battery.

If your going to buy it to install Windows 7... you might as well just buy a PC laptop unless you have money growing in your pockets.

The MAC OS isn't very hard to learn and once your used to it, it can be very user friendly, though same can be said about a PC. If your not very tech savvy, the MAC OS is pretty easy to keep up to date and is mostly trojan/virus proof. If you are somewhat tech savvy, you can also keep a PC virus and trojan free...

At the end, it's what your using it for... portability? graphic design? auto cading? writing? computing? For the price of a 15" MacBook Pro, you can also get a nice iMac + iPad. So at the end it's what the user's end needs are. Figure that out before you jump the gun.

It really isn't about the hardware but the software. I've been a PC user for over 10 years and switched to Mac OS because of how stable the OS is. I do photo/video editing and a lot of networking. So far the Mac OS hasn't failed on me as my PC did. My "borrowed" software crashes like crazy with the PC. Even when changing an IP address or browsing a network. My Mac, no problems. I switch between subnets, browse networks, SSH, Telnet, Photoshop without problems.

To say the least, Unix based systems rock!! If you want stability with software and an almost virus free environment, go with a Mac OS or get a regular laptop and build a Hackintosh.
