Yesterday, Maggie Cheung Ho Yee (張可頤) and Kenny Wong (黃德斌) filmed the trailer for upcoming drama, Empress Lu Chuan 《呂后傳》, which was to be shown in the 2012 TVB Sales Presentation.

On that fateful day, Maggie and Kenny were acting as Empress Lu Chuan and Han Xin respectively.

During the filming of it, Maggie gave off a deadly powerful aura of an empress as she put Kenny Wong’s Han Xin to death. On the other hand, Kenny Wong, who was suspended on wires for the scene, professed that he was severely swung here and there to the extent that he nearly couldn’t catch his breath.

Haven’t shot ancient periodic dramas for seven years now

Maggie revealed that she still didn’t know whether she would be reprising her role as the Empress when “Empress Lu Chuan” officially starts filming, “It is still too soon to tell as nothing is confirmed yet. In fact, I haven’t shot any ancient periodic drama ever since the year 2004. Coincidentally, I have previously also acted as Empress Lu Chuan many years ago in The Conqueror’s Story 《楚漢驕雄》. However, as “Conqueror’s Story” was heavily based on the male characters and there wasn’t much room for development back then, given a chance, I would certainly be glad to act as Empress Lu Chuan for the second time.” When interviewed, Kenny expressed that everything has to wait till the company has made the arrangements.

Would have to think through it carefully upon being poached

It was known that Maggie was still under a per-series contract with TVB. Maggie divulged that TVB’s General Manager of Broadcasting Affairs, Stephen Chan (陳志雲), and his subordinate, TVB’s Production and Resource Director, Virginia Lok (樂易玲), separately came to personally discuss the possibility of a contract extension with her.

Asked whether they were asking her to sign a pay-package contract with them due to the rapidly decreasing rate of current Fadans in TVB, Maggie replied, “I currently feel extremely comfortable working with my own manager. For other matters, I would probably have to discuss them with my manager first. However, as an actress, the basic mentality is of course to have a good role and production to participate in.” (Reporter: Did Ricky Wong (王維基) [Chairman of new rival television station, City Telecom] try to poach you?) “If I said no, I would obviously be lying to you. Actually, we did discuss before but I still needed some time to think it through.”

Kenny, on the other hand, also admitted that, like many of his colleagues, he was also contacted by Ricky Wong and TVB had also approached him to discuss about the possibility of a contract renewal with them. However, as he was still currently busy filming the upcoming Lee Tim-Shing‘s (李添勝) TVB production, Ladder to Heaven 《天梯》, he didn’t have the time to discuss with them and would hence consider about it at a later time.

She did a good job in the Conquerors Story portraying Empress Lu...If it happens, then it could be a semi-sequel where the story circulates around life after the Han Conquest and how Lu dominated the early Han Dynasty.
