Man sentenced in HK sex scandal A Hong Kong computer technician has been jailed for eight-and-a-half months for stealing more than 1,000 sexually explicit photos of singer Edison Chen. Sze Ho-chun copied the pictures from Mr Chen’s laptop when the Canadian-born star brought it to computer shop Elite Multimedia for repairs in 2006. The photos spread across the Internet last year. Jailing Sze, magistrate Tong Man said Sze’s copying of the images was a breach of trust. The prosecution said the 24-year-old saved 1,300 images of Chen, shown in compromising positions with celebrities including pop star Gillian Chung and actress Cecilia Cheung. The 28-year-old actor has admitted taking the photographs and apologised for “all the suffering”. Sze was sentenced on three counts of obtaining access to a computer with a view to dishonest gain for himself or another. His lawyer, Kevin Tang, said outside court Sze would probably appeal the conviction. The sex pictures became one of the web’s most searched-for items in Asia last year. As a result, Chen announced his retirement from the Hong Kong entertainment scene and fled to his childhood home of Canada. Chen had been one of Asia’s biggest entertainment stars, recording 16 albums and filming a cameo role in The Dark Knight. He also provided a voice for the Cantonese version of the animated children’s movie Shrek The Third. Earlier this year, a Hong Kong television station received an anonymous death threat intended for the star, accompanied with a gold bullet. Source: BBC News
