Monday December 03, 2007 Hong Kong Some of the singers attending the press event for the Metro Hit Awards 2007 <新城勁爆頒獎禮> on 01 December, left some of the station's executives less than pleased when they had to rush off to rehearse for a CRHK concert later on that evening. Soon after the event kicked off in the afternoon, Eason Chan (陳奕迅), Joey Yung (容祖兒), Denise Ho (何韻詩), Leo Ku (古巨基) and Miriam Yeung (楊千嬅) had to rush off to rehearsals and a rather disgruntled Metro Radio director Chu Ming Rui (朱明銳) was very unhappy as he instructed his PR staff to bring back the singers for the press conference. The start of the event, which was originally set at 11am, had been delayed by 40 minutes due to many singers arriving late and the nominees were quickly revealed together with the winner of the Metro Hit Broadcast Award, which went to Leo's "Love Come Home" <愛回家>. After 20 minutes, the singers got up to leave and Miriam explained that they had to arrive at AsiaWorld Expo to prepare for their concert that evening. Eason had originally planned to stay and meet the reporters, but he was also pulled away by record company staff, leaving him feeling a little awkward and apologetic. Joey later issued a comment through the company saying he was simply following instructions and that it was difficult to fit in so many engagements into her schedule. Mr Chu later commented that Metro Radio understood the situation and felt that the music industry should work together as a whole. He added that they had reached an agreement with the record companies that the singers could leave as soon as the main presentation was over and that he was not annoyed by the incident. Other stars present to show their support for the awards included Twins, Hins Cheung (張敬軒), Ivana Wong (王菀之) and Raymond Lam (林峯). credits: batgwa.
