Source: On.cc Translated by: aZnangel Miss Lam calls Joey Yung a "little singer" for her comment about not being biased to Filipinos The day before, Joey Yung publicly urges HK citizens to not be bias towards Filipinos, don't fire their maids just because of the tour bus hostage incident. But a political candidate by-election (?) Miss Lam (Lam Yi Lai - 林依麗) ridiculed Joey as just a "small little singer" in the music scene and is not qualified to comment on the incident. The clip of her message circulated online and has angered many stars including Denise Ho, Miriam Yeung, Hins Cheung, Cyrus Chow and Pong Nan, along with many fans gave Joey justice. Reporters later interviewed Miss Lam, she insists that she was not wrong and said: "Isn't she a small little singer? She's only in her 20s-30s, little children just stick to singing, why talk so much? If she minds, then I'll call her a Big Singer! (Apologize?) Silly! Apologize for what? I didn't say anything, those people are angered? (Many singers are unsatisfied?) Those singers just want to get famous, of course they'll say something. If a Big Singer, then shouldn't mind being called a small little singer, Joey Yung I can't even name one song by her! Don't try to get promotions." YOUTUBE CLIP OF MISS LAM's comment about Joey Spoiler Quick translation: Q: Joey Yung publicly urged people of Hong Kong to not be biased towards the Filipinos, don't fire them just because of this incident, what do you think about that? Lam: How is she qualified to say anything? A small little singer right? Like I'm not looking down on her, but a little singer just sing your songs. But the Filipinos also have their ability to express, and facing the HK people corpses and laughing so happily. Hey, they might be thinking we have been working for you as maids in HK for 20+ years, then why would they laugh so happily? So this is their expression right? Then how come HK people don't have the right to fire them? We are paying them a salary and can hire other people too, why can't we? I think we are ok, can do it. We aren't using firearms like them to kill people, I think we have the right to make this decision. Like during the mourning, the Philippines said that no matter if it's HKers or Filipinos, we have to get through this tragedy. I know that's the standard of what you say in politics, but HK is really sad, just watching TV, mentioning the Philippines, we want to cry. What Philippines and us? They are just laughing! We are here tearing up and they are laughing, tell them to do us a favor and don't mention the Philippines at this time. Talk about the pain and experiences of the Hong Kong people, what kind of pain does the Philippines have? They are nonsense, just holding in things and don't dare to say it, hey, pain is pain, right? Everyone is just tearing, watching tv then cry, will they cry for us? They are laughing so much they can't even close their mouths, I think HK definitely has the right to fire the Filipinos maids, I tell you, you have the right. I already fired mines, I won't hire the Filipinos. I have that right. Is Miss Lam qualified to comment? (Read below) From Joeygalaxy.com: http://www.cdeclips.com/en/hongkong/fullstory.html?id=48665 UPDATES: (09/01/2010) (Source: Oriental Daily) Many artists continue to support Joey on weibo, including Charlene Choi (Ah Sa), Louis Yuen and Denise Ho. Ah Sa express that in her heart, Joey is a "cute jai" and "fast direct jai". Denise said: "Then what am I? We understand what is righteousness and that is our luck. We shall give a moment of silence to someone called Miss Lam who doesn't understand what righteousness is!" Lyricist Leung Pak Kin and Siu Hak changed the lyrics to Joey's classic songs to mock Miss Lam. Miss Lam responds again: As for being bashed by several stars, Miss Lam accepted a phone interview and continued to light the fire: "Won't say anymore, let them respond. I don't even know their names and don't know their songs. Don't let them get famous. (Someone changed the lyrics?) Thank you, just enlightened him." Last night, she made a video to attack back, bashing the singers trying to get attention is their duties and said that the lyricists should not get so proud just because they used lyrics to yell at someone.
LOL, Joey might send people to beat her up like how she did to Mr Tsang for taking the piss on the show.
WTF??? what a bitch. What Joey said is true. You cant judge an entire race because of what a few ppl did. Ppl shouldnt be bias against other filipino's because of the incident. It's not their fault and they didnt want it to happen. That Lam woman is the one trying to get her 2 minutes of fame.
This is exactly the type of self serving right wing extremist politician that makes for good headlines out of the misery of others. What this woman is doing is stirring up all the wrong sentiments from this case, and she's doing it for personal political gain. Like the agent provocateur sent in by police to infiltrate legitimate protest organizations, her only intent is to get others to start doing the wrong thing (ie firing their maids). How does this help Hong Kong? It doesn't. Firstly, HK'er cannot afford to pay the real wages demanded by Chinese domestics, which is why they hire from poor countries in the first place. So if HK Filipinos are fired and sent packing, then you can expect to do your own laundry, and you can thank Ms. Lam for that. Or... perhaps you can send her your dirty laundry and dishes. LOL... In short, how do you say Rush Limbaugh in Chinese? Answer: Lam Yi-lai.
I agree with Joey. A group of people CANNOT represent their whole country. Remember how China was creating fake food + harmful toys or w/e? I dont see the world being bias towards chinese right?
not a big fan of joey yung... but i agree with joey's statement. Ignorance definitely took control over the lady.
