everyone says MMA is taking over boxing? but boxing still have way more viewers. a lot of people do not know what mma is. there is also more money involved in boxing than in MMA. So, tell mma fans or boxing fans do you think mma is taking over boxing?
what they mean is what boxing use to be MMA has taken its throne.... and seriously MMA does take the cake because it more demanding
I don't think it can overtake boxing that quickly as boxing has been around for a long time while MMA has only been around for about a decade. Still, MMA is much more entertaining imo.
mma is taking over boxing cuz it mixes boxing and other martial arts together.. evolution of fighting. and more entertaining to watch imo
MMA is not taking over boxing is taking over Professional Wrestling. The fans of both sports are very similar. They all want to see the crap kicked out of some guy in a very brutal way.
people prefer boxing over mma cos it last longer LOL, you should see the softness of the boxing glove and the mma gloves, mma will knock them out way faster
Filipino Boxing Updates: HI, I've just found out that another Pinoy boxing champ, Nonito Donaire, has signed a deal with Bob Arum. Apparently, Donaire decided to junk his contract with Gary Shaw because he is not getting any fights. His last fight was against Luis Maldonado last December and he needs a fight to keep him in top shape. I think this is a good decision on Donaire's part. Arum is perfectly capable of setting up the fights he need to become successful in his boxing career. Inactivity can cost him his title just as in the case of Florante Condes. thanks!
There shouldn't be any debates about this from an athletes point of view, but from an entertainment point of view, I don't see MMA taking over Boxing, not for sometime at least. I live in Australia, the last big boxing match was Pacman VS Hatton, that was on the news here in Australia, I don't hear much from any of the MMA leagues (UFC pride etc etc). In addition, there are large financial backers in boxing, and more celebrities go to boxing matches than UFC matches. You always hear big names like Pitt and Jolie at fights (Hatton VS Mayweather), Jay Z is always at boxing matches, and I think Usher was present in the De LaHoya VS Mayweather match. From another entertainment perspective (i.e. the viewer), its more exciting to watch a boxing match because its more faster pace and has more action, watch examples such as Mickey Ward Vs Arturio Gatti I II and III boughts, even the Tyson VS Holyfield matches (including the ear bite one) were great to watch. With MMA, its great to see a flying armbar or a triangle being executed, but once its locked on, the pace of the fight just slows down as we see two men who are just grabbing onto each other (no homo). Boxing is also where the big money is at, you get multi million buy ins for matches on PPV. I do anticipate for the day when UFC becomes as big as boxing, but the pay check for main events at UFC aren't anything compared to the 20 million that boxers get. As with K1, I think that is to Asia and Europe what boxing is in America. Its so grand
If you are into boxing, you should watch the upcoming fight Klitschko vs Chagaev on june 20th. two heavy weight world champions fighting each other!!!
