With ATV being weak and the good ratings, TVB becomes the TV Rating King, this year "Moonlight Resonances" carrying on from last year's "Heart of Greed" have once again had audience fall into "drama fever" as they chased after each episode. The finale reached 50 points, imposing a high-hand and hard for ATV to catch up. Unfortunately the current broadcasting series have not reached its breakthrough yet. 80 episodes long series "The Gem of Life" ratings have been going downhill, Liza Wang and Charmaine Sheh's collaboration TVB Anniversary series "When Easterly Showers on the Sunny West" was the second lowest rating of 2008, everyone "dropped their glasses". Currently the most anticipated series for next year includes "Burning Flames III", "E.U", "The Grand Entrepreneurs" and "D.I.E II". It is counted on those series to turn the tide and make the ratings a success.

Recently the financial tsunami has sparked panics, maybe that's affecting the viewership and the audiences mood to watch TV? Last week, "The Gem of Life" ratings continue to fall, receiving only 25 points along with "Pages of Treasures" (approximately 1.57 million viewers tuned in).

    ATV's News Program ratings stabled

As ATV has always had low ratings, even through stormy days, grand productions, the ratings do not have much change. Earlier, in only the short period of 12 days, CEO of ATV (Wong Wai Gei) said that ATV's departmart of public information needs to reduce its staff and plans for a massive layoff, which will include the two main announcers. In the end, only one of the announcers remained on the program. Actually ATV's news program has always had pretty good ratings, Monday-Saturday night news will usually get 7-9 points, Sunday will usually increase to 10 points. As for the regular cooking and food shows, many times the ratings will increase to double digits. There seems to be a group of audiences that supports them.

"The Jewels in the Palace" the 50 Point Record

This year TVB's top 10 series helped the ratings including "Moonlight Resonances" averaged 34.8 points (approximately 2.19 million viewers) and the finale of 50 points (appromixately 3.15 million viewers), their ratings have always been a help. Earlier Ha Yu and Michelle Yim won the TV King and Queen Title, their popularity has continue to rise. The "HOG Fever" has been big for years 2007-2008. 40 Episode "Moonlight Resonances" successfully captured audience attention since its first day of broadcast, TV ratings started out high and the whole series average 34.8 points, with the finale as 50 points, breaking the "Jewels in the Place" record and helped Hong Kong series get some pride back.

"Legend of the Demigods" Last in line with the Lowest Ratings

Ranked #2 is Roger Kwok and Sonjia Kwok's "D.I.E", averaging 33.7 points (approximately 2.12 million viewers), the finale reached 42 points (appromixately 2.64 million viewers). The series development has attracted audience's hearts as they felt pity for the storyline. Originally the storyline had Roger Kwok's character (Yue Sir) die, but in the end TVB decided to make an alternative happy ending, bringing "lan GAG", which did not do much change. Ranked #3 is Liza Wang and Myolie Wu's collaboration of "War of In-Laws II", averaging 32.6 points (approximately 2.05 million viewers), highest 41 points (approximately 2.58 million viewers). But Liza Wang's other TVB anniversary series with Charmaine Sheh did not do as well, averaging only 27.6 points (approximately 1.74 million viewers) - placing in second for the line up in the lowest rating of the year. The lowest rating series of the year is Linda Chung, Sunny Chan and Benny Chan's anicent series "Legend of the Demigods", which only got 26.5 points on average (approximately 1.67 million viewers).
