Most asian mothers hurt you when you do something wrong, I got lucky and got the asian mother who gives you the same lecture over and over again. I just lost my camera, one of those old SLR's and naturally, I got to tell my mom. so I tell her, and the whole time we're looking for it , I get the whole " you need to be more responsible and you're so worthless" and the " you know how much that's worth?" I sometimes just want to go and say, you don't think I lose because I lost the thing? Does everyone not make a mistake once in awhile and misplace things? You sometimes lose something and then need me to help you find it, but do I ever complain? NO. I don't. OKay, all done.. Now I feel better.

Then my mother is definately the best... when I was young, I got the best of both treatments. -surr Sound like your mom went overboard... but she may have SOME point in lecturing you. Just because you didn't mean to lose the camera, doesn't mean it couldn't have been helped. One should keep a more cautious eye out on valuables. Being too careless is nothing more than a bad habit. When you get married and lose you wedding ring... would you just think to yourself "oh well. I didn't mean to"? So kick the habit while you still can before it becomes TOO embedded in you
Man, you're evil. those dusters are freaking scary. I would never do that to my kids, if and when I have them. I'll keep one around to threaten them with, but I won't hit them. Well, I'm not thinking "Oh well, I didn't mean too" That was one important camera that was valuable to me. I was thinking more along the lines of "Holy F*cking Sh*t , Where the hell did I put that damned camera" then at the same time, "God, Shut up. I can't think."

Brings back bad memories... >< *shudders* I've witnessed the beating of my cousin, and it was brutal. He was bleeding, and his mom , just kept hitting. Course, she swore me to secrecy, though I think it's okay, not like any of you know me or my family. The worst part was, He ran after a while, and I was stuck cleaning the blood off the walls and floor. It was gross, and I am now terrified of my aunt.
wth that's too rough man, anyway i had loads of these beatings when i was very little... come to think of it i was quite a naughty kid when i was little...

I remember hearing stories of other kids being beaten too and having their noses broken... Lectures seem like nothing in comparison!
yeah my mother is like that it's fricken annoyin' sometimes I get angry and leave the house and go somewhere else to cool off.
wow this thread was created a while ago and only consisted of 3 people and now its reeped back up again seeing as i didnt respond to it i will now as its bought back up yeah my mum gives me loads a lectures whenever i lose anything or misplace things all the time and as airree said the phrases 1. 'why arent you more responsible' 2. 'why dont you look after your things' comes to mind all the time and its like i dont choose to lose things i just cant remember where i put things and not to mention i absolutely hate that other phrases 1. 'try and remember where you had it last' 2. 'try and re-trace your footsteps of when you had it last' and its like if i did remember i wouldnt be looking for it now -angry
Same for me, except its my dad, he always lectures me about the same thing over and over. I already understood the point the first time around. Oh ya, anyone hear of the mother who decided to show her body to her son to teach him about sex? Disgusting.
What i hate most is my mum comparing me to someone else, whenever i did something wrong, or if they are better then me at something. But, i know most asian parents are very similar.
Everyday I get up at 05:30am in order to get ready for work and reach there by 7am.. Like clockwork, my mother gets up at 06.00am, mind you, she doesn't have any reason whatsoever to wake up at that time, but she does..Just to lecture me about leaving for work ontime... lol The thing is I do get to work on time (without speeding for the most part) but she lectures me about leaving earlier than I already do.>.< she's like : "Tammy, you need to leave at quarter after 6 every morning!!!! Do you want to get fired??" I try so hard to kindly tell her that lecturing me so early in the am is not helping me to leave on time, lol it just gets me agitated.. But *sighs* I love my mum
Haha this thread old >< : ) Update: I found the camera.. turned out I asked my mom to put it away so she took it and put it in my bathroom cabinet (don't ask, I dunno) then forgot.. and blamed it on me..
