"Mulan" Nominated in Hong Kong Film Awards

Director Jingle Ma's Costume Film "Mulan" is competing for two awards in the 29th Hong Kong film Awards, Sina.com reports.

The female lead Zhao Wei has been nominated for best actress in a leading role and the theme song "Mulan Love" will compete for best original film score.

Zhao won the support from both professionals and audiences for the quality of her acting in the film. Many consider her to be the most likely film queen in this event to walk away with an award. Zhao has also been nominated as best supporting actress for her performance in "Red Cliff II". However, whether or not Zhao herself will attend the award ceremony is still unclear as rumors have it that she has been pregnant for half a year.

Those competing for best actress are Zhang Jingchu - "The Way We Are," Kara Hui - "At The End of Daybreak," Shu Qi - "Looking For A Star," and
Sandra Ng - "Echoes Of The Rainbow."

The producers are said to be planning "Mulan II" due to the original film's successful showing at the box office. The sequel will show the lead character Mulan in a different light from the first film, along with a different director and cast members.
