Thirty-six-year-old Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) and 40-year-old Philip Lee (李乘德) got married on December 28. Dating for a year, the couple announced their engagement in November. After a traditional Chinese tea ceremony in the morning, the couple celebrated their union at the Ritz Carlton Hotel. At 7:30 a.m. in the morning, Philip and 23 groomsmen went to Myolie’s residence to receive the bride. Philip’s group of best men was made up of mostly his close friends from outside the entertainment industry. They were greeted by Myolie’s 11 bridesmaids, who were mainly friends from within the industry. The bridesmaids included Nancy Wu (胡定欣), Mandy Wong (黃智雯), Elaine Yiu (姚子羚), Paisley Wu (胡蓓蔚), Sire Ma (馬賽) and Selena Li (李施嬅). The atmosphere was lively and boisterous, as the bridesmaids presented the groomsmen with challenges and games they had to play before Philip was eventually allowed to meet Myolie. Philip had to make statements declaring his love for her. Myolie’s traditional Chinese dress was adorned with phoenix embroidery in gold and silver thread. The outfit reportedly took an artisan 12 months to complete, and is worth $25,800 USD. The couple then drove to the Ritz Carlton Hotel, where their wedding banquet was to be held, and where a suite was prepared for the tea ceremony to be conducted with Philip’s family. Myolie changed into a beautiful long-sleeved lace bridal gown for the afternoon wedding ceremony at the Beas River Country Club. A white canopy was set up on a grassy meadow against a bright blue sky, and a cocktail reception was held. There were approximately 200 guests, with many of Myolie’s friends, including Crystal Li (李雪瑩) and Skye Chan (陳倩揚), in attendance. The couple exchanged wedding vows in English, with Myolie choking back tears in the middle of saying her vows. All the guests were visibly moved, and some of Myolie’s bridesmaids even started tearing. The couple then signed the wedding papers and exchanged rings, and completed the ceremony with a heartfelt kiss. Will Have Children Later Myolie and Philip proceeded to the Ritz Carlton for their wedding banquet in the evening. Speaking with the press before the start of the banquet, Myolie said that they will enjoy their marriage first before having children. “It’s important to get adjusted to each other, as we were very carefree before. But now we have to respect each other. And it’s necessary to discuss and plan it together. But I I feel extremely happy and fortunate.” After the wedding, Myolie will take a two-month vacation to enjoy her new marriage. Asked about the total cost of their wedding, Myolie said, “We haven’t calculated the expenses yet. My husband works hard for his money and he said that the wedding was a big expense. Everyone waited a long time for him to get married; I believe the elders will also be more generous in their gifts.” Myolie Feels Fortunate to Have Philip in Her Life At the banquet, Philip praised Myolie in a speech prepared in English. He had promised Myolie’s father that he will take care of her for the rest of his life. Myolie felt very blessed to have met Philip. The couple had prepared individual video clips in which they exposed each other’s habits. Philip said that Myolie “often leaves crumbs everywhere when she eats,” while Myolie said that Philip likes cleanliness and will wash dishes even before she is done cooking. Bridesmaids Sing Song Bridesmaids Nancy Wu, Paisley Wu, Elaine Yu, Mandy Wong and Selena Li surprised Myolie with by singing a song at the banquet. Delighted by her good friends’ performance, Myolie joined them on stage and danced together. After the banquet ended, Myolie and Philip held an after party in Lan Kwai Fong at 2 a.m. The bridal party, along with Niki Chow, were spotted joining the newlyweds. Changing into a red dress and wearing a mini tiara, Myolie said, “We won’t party all night. I’m getting old!” The newlyweds celebrated until 4 a.m. before departing from the venue. Creds: applehk
