Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) made a prominent appearance at the 48th TVB Anniversary Gala although her future with the station remains unclear. She revealed that her management contract will end next year and she would consider carefully during her upcoming month-long break. “It’s not about the money. I just wish to try something new. [TVB] has been very good to me, but other companies have also made offers. However, I feel sentimentally attached to TVB and that will be the biggest factor in my consideration,” Myolie said candidly. On the subject of the TVB Anniversary Gala suffering from low viewership ratings, Myolie said, “Perhaps there are certain significant events taking place in Hong Kong right now, so people don’t have the time to sit down and watch television. They may have watched the re-broadcast online. The ratings analysis should take into account online viewership as well.” She added that feedback may also encourage producers of the Gala show to improve future programming. As for speculations that Wong Cho Lam‘s (王祖藍) marriage proposal to Leanne Li (李亞男) was to boost ratings, Myolie does not believe this to be the case. Witnessing the sweet proposal live at the scene, Myolie was happy for the couple. Admitting that she felt envious, Myolie said, “It’s not easy for a man to propose publicly in front of so many people. I’m very envious and touched. I don’t think it is right to say that there was a conspiracy behind the proposal.” Myolie added that she did not need her future boyfriend to propose in a similarly high-profile manner, as his sincerity would be what matters most. For the upcoming TVB Anniversary Awards, Myolie believes Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) or Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣) have the best chances for TV Queen, while Roger Kwok (郭晉安) or Raymond Lam (林峰) may win TV King. Myolie does not think Raymond’s departure from TVB would affect his chances, “You can also still participate even after leaving TVB. Roger is also very outstanding.” Creds: Ming Pao
