Having worked hard for many years, Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) now has more control over her career. This year looks to be a promising year for Myolie who hopes to make a name for herself in China. Despite winning the TV Queen title in 2011, Myolie has never slowed down her pace. Seeking perfection, she will not hesitate to find out her shortcomings and analyze her performance each time. ”I used to be shy and dared not approach the seniors and trouble them. Many things I’ve learned were from my own experiences. But if I had sought the help of the seniors, I could have improved at a faster pace,” Myolie advised newcomers to be ready to ask more experienced artists for advice. To prepare for her roles, Myolie will watch similar movies or dramas and observe the people around her. After filming Wine Beauty <红酒俏佳人> in China, Myolie returned to Hong Kong to film TVB series Rosy Business 3: No Reserve <巾幗梟雄之諜血長天>, in which she plays a strong woman once again. Myolie spoke of her role, “Because she has lost the most important thing in her life, she needs a rebirth. This is a story about how a special agent helps her country to get rid of invaders, but from her feelings, you can also see her weaknesses.” Myolie will be heading to Foshan later for on location filming. New Challenges Myolie revealed that her favorite series this year was Triumph in the Skies 2 <衝上雲宵II>. She has played a lawyer several times, but hopes to play a doctor or policewoman. Myolie said, “I do feel I’m a rather righteous person. I will speak up when I see unfairness.” Myolie added that she enjoys medical-themed shows and one of her favorite TV shows is Grey’s Anatomy. Although Ghetto Justice <怒火街頭> helped Myolie win TV Queen, it was 2006′s To Grow with Love <肥田囍事> which gave her one of her biggest challenges in her career. Gaining 40 pounds for the role, Myolie revealed her yoyo-weight experience, “I felt a lot of pressure that time. Furthermore, it was announced very early that I would put on weight for that show so I felt that many people were observing me. I also wondered what if I could not manage to gain the weight. Then the show could not go on. After I gained the weight, I felt terrible. I could not even tie my own shoelaces. I lost my breath after walking up a few steps. I always felt my body was so heavy, as if something was pressing down on me. So that was not a good experience.” Beauty Secrets Just as quickly, Myolie shed all the weight she gained in To Grow With Love. Aside from exercise, Myolie said that mental strength was the key to her weight loss success. “You must have determination to cut down your food intake. Actually, as long as you really want to do something, you will surely succeed.” Known for her baby-smooth skin and youthful looks despite her true age of 33 years old, Myolie revealed her beauty secrets, “I do not do anything special. But I eat healthily and I drink a lot of soup. I also use masks.” When Myolie has a filming break, she enjoys relaxing at home, watching TV, and shopping online. However, she will not travel alone as it is too dangerous. Myolie added, “I’m not the kind to go travelling alone as I’m afraid of being alone.” Known for her hard-working ethics, Myolie does not like remaining stagnant and strives to learn new skills in her spare time. “Recently, I started learning French. This is something that needs a lot of listening and speaking practice. I usually study while I’m waiting for the transport. I don’t want to go through life thinking I’ve wasted my youth away.
