This year has been a good year for Nancy Wu (胡定欣). Careerwise, Nancy swept the Best Supporting Actress award at Malaysia Astro On Demand, Singapore’s Asian Television Awards, and the TVB Anniversary Awards. Her love life is blooming too. Nancy finally admitted she has been dating Patt Shum (沈栢淳), an entrepreneur in the advertising industry, for close to 6 months, and they are maintaining a steady relationship. Nancy considers Patt to be a good potential husband. Playing Cat and Mouse In the past, Nancy dated men from the same circle — Deep Ng (吳浩康) and Kenneth Ma (馬國明) come to mind. Back then, she always felt she had to stay low profile to avoid the paparazzi, and felt uneasy about the romance. Dating an outsider finally allowed her to talk openly about her romance, and experience the fun of dating like most couples. Nancy said, “In the past, I cannot disclose my dates, as we were both entertainers. What we did may affect each other. Whatever he did, the media will come after me for information, and vice versa. We spent most of our time trying to fly under the paparazzi’s radars; we didn’t even want to go out to eat.” “But now, I can stop behaving like a burglar and stroll down the street with Patt openly,” Nancy explained. Nancy has already told her boyfriend that he may be the target of occasional paparazzi harassment, and now the two have no problem going out. “It’s a great feeling to be in love,” Nancy said. A Woman in Love When the reporters turned their focus to Nancy’s boyfriend, her eyes lit up like a woman in love. Nancy said they have been dating for a few months, but the moments she has spent with him have been wonderful. Nancy said their personalities are made for each other, so she felt like they have been dating forever. Nancy called Patt an attentive person, as he knows how to take care of her. Patt seems to remember whatever Nancy said and did, and that gives her a sense of security. During Nancy’s birthday, Patt gave her an oil painting, a beautiful portrait of Nancy, painted by Patt himself. Nancy found it to be sweet and romantic. When asked if Patt will be a potential husband, Nancy gave it some thought and answered, “Many of my friends are already married and some even have kids running around. I am 31 years old and I believe it is the right time for marriage. I shouldn’t be playing the fields anymore. What I want now is stability and security, and Patt is the one who can offer me both. Maybe a few years from now, let’s say before I turn 35, we will be married.” Creds: Ming Pao
