Apple's newest iPhone will be the most powerful yet when it hits on June 17, the company announced today during their annual World Wide Developers Conference. The iPhone 3GS will hit the same day as the new game-centric 3.0 firmware for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Apple calls it "the most powerful, fastest iPhone we've ever made." Launching messaging is faster, viewing Excel is faster and loading SimCity is 2.4 faster. The 3Gs will include a 3MP autofocus camera, 30FPS VGA video capturing and supports OpenGL/Es and 7.2 Mbps HSDPA. Seems like they're pushing the iPhone to more of a gaming machine... will the ds's n psp stand a chance? http://live.gizmodo.com/
Most apple products look pretty slick . Quite tempting to sell my touch and get the iPhone.. seeing as I need a new phone. Probably the worse bit about today's release was the announcement that Touch users have to pay 10 bucks for the new 3.0 fw upgrade...
to me it looks the same as the current one its just that apple added more features in it so they can make more money..thief...
saw this on some news today and realised why so many people have iPhones in America it's because of these newer versions and the older ones get sold for like 99 dollars lol
Apple's products are known for quality and good second hand market price. All Apple's products got refresh every year ( or max 2 years ) once . However , the new iPhone is pretty disappointing . Disregard its new and more than 100 functions , I was expecting a metal-material as cover and not high-class plastic ( namely as polycarbonate ). They are not pushing it into a gaming device , they just wanted to make a sleek device as useful as possible . With its powerful OS and multi-touch technology , sony and nintendo had no place to stand in the market . You guys can do some research on how much market share is iPhone itself holding ( not including iPod Touch ). By changing the interior specification does not mean they are stealing money from you . For example , they just launch a refresh line of MacBook Pro . The latest generation has better spec and even lower 20% prices from its predecessor . Think about that.
I disagree with being known for quality, in the past maybe but not any more. Take the ipods for example, the batteries dies on you after 2 years. Of course it happens to all batteries but like with cell phones and laptops you can simply replace them by pulling them out without too much trouble. As for the macbook, yes high-class plastics ( I got the white 2nd gen one ), the material is so cheap my screen cracked and the outer shell is breaking off little by little. Innovative, userfriendly and creative yes, quality .. just so so .
well, the macbook pro's are made out of aluminium so i guess u get what u pay for and besides most laptops are made out of plastic anyway so u can't rele complain about the macbook. same with the iphone as well rele and they chose plastic because it is the lighter material and people tend to prefer a lighter phone rather than a metal back. also, the iphone seems pretty durable anyway, well the previous version so i'm sure the new one will be the same.
will cost you an arm and a leg to upgrade from the 3G apparently, but for those just entering the smartphone market this is an ok deal.
To have a removable battery on the iPod would have to increase its thickness by quite a bit.. something which Apple wouldn't want to do - Slim + thin is their image. If you do want a new battery, you can try a 3rd party to replace it for you.
I honestly don't see what is so attractive about the iPhone. Its $200 USD to upgrade or more I think.
