Newegg Unlocked Phone: Permanent Unlock or NOT

    Hi,

    I recently purchased a unlocked Xperia Arc S from Newegg, and I was wondering is the unlock permanent or not. I am planning to update the Arc S firmware and I didn't want it to get locked after I update the firmware. Please let me know.

    Are you 100% sure because I'm planning to update the firmware. Did you ever had this experience before?

    The phone you bought is not carrier branded. It is a manufacture branded phone, factory unlocked. Updating the firmware, changing firmware, etc. would not effect the SIM unlock.
